He was also a Muslim. mother syrian....father turkish.....he was in the roman army as a senior officer...converted to christianity.......got kicked out of the roman army...(they wanted to crusify him...but they thought he was a nice chap so told him to get on his bike)....then frelanced around the middle east...and ended up fighting a dragon in libyia......like yeah !!! There never was a St George it was a story dreamt up to boost the flagging moral of the Crusaders against Saladin. There is a George celebrated by the Eastern churches but not ours.
