butchdickason
It is everywhere, I live in Henley on Thames, we are swamped with tourist who don't or can't social distance because of the numbers. We now stay home during the day and take our walks in the evening when the majority of tourist have left.

millrace
Except its not having any affect...... According to the "science"....the upsurge is from household socialization resulting in many more cases among younger people with no sizeable increase in hospital admissions or death rate....... Jaymo
Yet people are bemoaning Europe’s rates, yet where I am in France they adhere to the distancing on the beach perfectly. Min 2 to 3m spacing. Look at the view and tell me the beaches in the Uk are as nice, when you question why would anyone wish to go abroad? Correct, infections within the younger\heathier population are not an issue as their immune systems can easily beat the virus.

I think the pubs will be a bigger issue than the beaches, masks worn everywhere except when out getting drunk, then back into work Monday. Yes, and the same logic applies to many older people who maintain good health and fitness and free from the debilitating effect that prescription drugs have on the immune system. Being older doesn't automatically mean less healthy.

There again what do the Government expect. I know from being born and bred on a farm, the spring release of young beast from their winter quarters created mayhem in the field for at least an hour as they enjoyed their freedom. S ame with humans, shut them away and then partially open the door and that is the result. Just let everyone get back to normality and use their own common sense(IF they have any mind) to carry on living normally and take whatver personal measures they feel necesaary. Basically the Government are covering their own backsides.

Exactly, a covid 'case' could mean no or very mild symptoms. They are going to do their best to show this second wave, even if that means ramping up the testing. Why do they not show positive results as a proportion of total tests?
Yellow Bear
To be fair they are testing far more low symptom presentations - so the number may not have actually risen they may just be finding them

I am sorry but that statement is pure conjecture, with no evidence to back it up and likely based on nothing but anecdotes related to the flu and not covid19, indeed all studies to date have shown the opposite us true. A study in Switzerland, including a review of World Health Organization contact tracing, failed to find evidence of a single case of a child passing coronavirus to an adult. A comprehensive study in Iceland isolated SARS-CoV-2 samples from every positive case, sequenced the virus genome, and tracked the mutation patterns. This analysis, along with contact tracing, allowed researchers to identify definitively who passed the virus to whom. The study concluded “[E]ven if children do get infected, they are less likely to transmit the disease to others than adults. We have not found a single instance of a child infecting parents.” A study of schools in Ireland found “no evidence of secondary transmission of COVID-19 from children attending school.” Denmark, The Netherlands, Finland, Belgium, and Austria all opened schools and “found no evidence of increased spread of the novel coronavirus after schools reopened.” The same was found in scientific studies in France, Sweden, and Germany. A leading British epidemiologist goes even further to claim there is not a single known case of a teacher being infected of coronavirus from a student anywhere in the world. I think that although what you say is quite correct about children, Mice! is probably referring to young and middle aged adults ........ who have parents, aunts and uncles and grandparents etc. who are in vulnerable age groups. There have been numerous cases of adults passing the infection on - and indeed 'in household transmission' is thought to be a major factor in the current Oldham/Blackburn/Manchester 'north west' areas. Its exactly what they have been saying about Blackburn, saying part of the problem is how people live in multi age family groups, 3 or 4 generations living in a terraced house. And why the cases are in isolated areas. There was a young male Asian fella on the news last week saying he gets home from work, all clothing in the washing machine, showers and changes before joining his family, sister, parents kids and grandparents I think, not everyone will be following his example. According to Lancs live the way this group lives is part of why the cases are so high.
