243deer
I used to work for Pfizers and so know very well the usual protocols a drug has to go through to be approved. This cannot have been through the usual rigorous process as there has not been enough time to assess long term adverse reactions so the approval will be for a promising but not fully tested vaccine and the approval will in part be political. It would make a good episode of yes minister

Gordon R
Those who oppose the vaccine seem to think any adverse effects will show up almost immediately. There may or may not be adverse effects, but they may be years down the road. At what point will the anti-vaccine people declare it safe?
AVB
As I’ve said before I would take the jab if offered (57 years old) but not sure about the children. Interestingly doctors/ ministers etc have said that they are happy for their granny to have it but have swerved around the question when asked if they were happy for their young children to have it. clangerman
just to be on the safe side lining the government up and jabbing all of them first would be a good idea

At what point will the anti-vaccine people declare it safe? for me.. 4 or 5 years, I'm healthy enough to not need to worry about it for a while but I understand the vulnerable wanting it as it may be the lesser of two evils (or it could be completely safe...) BTW I'm not anti-vaccine, just anti rushed out vaccine Edited December 2, 2020 by Deker

Gordon R
Quote Then you would complain that they were at the front of the queue. You could have a bright future in the Labour Party. Whatever happens you can say the opposite was the correct path. 😀😀

discobob
They have never disclosed how the infection started in The Walking Dead have they??? Anybody seen I am Legend - great film!!! And they did show how that started. This morning it was "hancock's half hour" on GMB - you know - where they ask him questions and he never answers - he did say that the vaccine would be given to everyone - including people who have already had the virus. Will I have it - I don't know - YET. Wife has said she feels more comfortable with the Oxford vaccine.

Gordon R
Quote Anybody seen I am Legend - great film!!! Richard Matheson wrote the book. The original film adaptation film was "The Omega Man" starring Charlton Heston. Later came the Will Smith inferior version.

I remember the original film with Charlton Heston- never read the book though that I can remember although when young I had a voracious appetite for books - especially science fiction

I have some having been to med school - I will having vaccine as soon as I am able to and hope my parents have it much sooner than that. I am sick of people saying these vaccines were rushed. They were not rushed, they were prioritised. Researchers didnt need to ****** about writing applications for funding grants, they had unlimited cash and more willing volunteers for trials, so the normal vaccine development timeline was significantly bettered, not through shortcuts, but through a massive effort from science around the world, working on tech which they had already started in some cases, to get us out of the mess this virus put the planet into.
