Thanks for your suggestion Steve, I have tried that without any success. I think it may be more of a sinus problem
enfieldspares
I use a simple sterile saline solution dripped in using the bottle's nozzle. It costs but £2 from the chemist in the next village. Or with a teat pipette you could make your own or just sniff it up. https://www.ouh.nhs.uk/patient-guide/leaflets/files/110811nasaldouching.pdf Edited October 17, 2021 by enfieldspares

BobbyGee
I have had problems breathing through my nose for years, the only spray that works at all is Nasonex and I believe that it is prescription only. It is worth seeing your Doctor though, new things come along all the time !

Diver One
Steri spray OR .....I had to have a nose operation due to a serious diving accident. To clear the ensuing blockage I had to snort saline everyday and spit out the resulting conglomerated thrake hat collected in my throat. It sounds gross.......and itbwas BUT it worked. I do this now when I gets t a blocked snotter. 1tsp salt in 1 pt boiling water. Let it cool. Warm slightly before using. Make fresh every 24 hours. I found it easier to snort from an egg cup Edited October 17, 2021 by Diver One

Tancho
If you think it is sinus problems, have look on YouTube for sinus draining exercises. You may have to try a few but when you get the right one they can really help.
Walker570
Now I remember my grandfather having a similar problem and he had an operation to remove an obstruction or obstructions .... I cannot remember the name but pollip seems to come to mind. You have seen a specialist I suppose so that may not be the problem. Maybe a few bob spent on a private examination by another specialist might reveal the problem . Not likely to cost the earth just for a consultyation and by the sounds of it worth a try and may give you peace of mind.
treetree
Suffered for years with this; waking in the early hours with a dry/sore throat is the worst bit. The adhesive nose straips are quite good for widening the nasal passage. I think you'd know if it was sinus. Have a Google of 'non-allergic rhinitis' and see if that fits your symptoms. bruno22rf
Depends on what is causing the blockage, swelling or mucus build up. Swelling is likely due to infection/ cold etc and needs time or anti biotics but mucus can be cleared. Mucus can be cleared by putting 1/4 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda and a teaspoon of salt in a wine glass of hot water, stir well and wait for the mixture to cool to blood temperature, then use a plastic syringe to squirt the mixture down your nose as you hold your head upside down over the sink, once the nose is full try and wait a couple of minutes before turning your head over and blowing your nose into a tissue, you will be amazed at what can come out. I suffered for years but eventually had a private operation where they drilled up through the roof of my mouth and into the nasal passages breaking up the bone, not for the faint hearted. loriusgarrulus
I use a Neti Pot to clear my sinus and nasal passages. They work realy well with a warm saline solution. There are lots of different designs. The one below on Ebay is the one I use. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yoga-Nasal-Neti-Pot-Rinsing-Nose-Wash-System-Sinus-Irrigation-Sinuses_I4/154629727308?hash=item2400a6644c:g:3vUAAOSwAKxWW63w&pageci=47881e2d-00b4-4064-99c4-0429f5c0949d&redirect=mobile Edited October 17, 2021 by loriusgarrulus
Weihrauch17
If your nose is running but you can't blow and clear it then it is very likely to be Nasal Polyps, which are white / grey / pinkish fleshy growths in your sinuses. They need surgery to remove. I saw 5 GP's who didn't diagnose mine over the course of a year before going private and being diagnosed in about 30 seconds. You can sometimes see them if someone looks up your nose with a torch. Edited October 18, 2021 by Weihrauch17

Thankyou, created a profile to answer his question tbh but enjoy the threads on most things on here a very down to earth forum. Always happy to help lol, wouldn't wish them on anyone. I have had them operated on twice, not good if you can't breathe through your nose and are streaming constantly.
