wymberley
Amazon, for example, can deliver a mid sized parcel from one end of the country to another in less than 24 hours. Royal Mail can’t deliver a match box sized one some 20 miles in less than 3 days. Is it high time they had their tea leaves read and, say, TNT, FedEx and Amazon in view of their delivery/courier expertise were invited to tender for the job? chrisjpainter
Royal Mail can do that. Their 24 hour service has always been reliable for me - certainly compared to their other services!
Agriv8
Simple reason is that amazon automate the pickup and shipping. It’s a 1 to many operation! Royal Mail are many to many. Most of the time they don’t do bad. I have had 2 lost parcels with Amazon Agriv8

Dave at kelton
Except recorded delivery letters I only use couriers now. Royal Mail aren’t in the running any longer.

Imperfection
Once upon a time i used to manage the memberships of a gun club and always had problems with Royal Mail loosing mail.. Sending out membership cards was always hit or miss because if you felt the envelope, you would wrongly assume it contained a credit/debit card. So i had to get creative and disguise the card by sandwiching it inbetween much larger cardboard. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. It was sometimes quicker to get mail to one of our members in Spain than in the next county. I dont have a lot of time for Royal Fail im afraid. 30-6
Have no faith in Royal Mail at all, lucky we got email. Letters to wrong address or not received on a regular basis. Important stuff, hospital appointments, bank correspondence. Came down one morning and found a parcel half in half out of a broken letterbox, confronted the postie concerned and he flatly denied it, said it was already broke, total lie. loriusgarrulus
I waited in for a parcel on Tuesday. It arrived at Warrington and was sent from there to Sandbach a couple of miles up the road. The tracking said it was due for delivery that day. Next time I looked it said it was sent back to the national hub. Then it went to Warrington again. From there it went to Crewe. It was finally delivered Friday. Royal Mail for you. Annoying because it was a Beco tea urn tap I wanted to fit to a 20 litre aluminium stock pot which I had delivered by Hermes on Monday. Its to take down the wood for heating for showers etc instead of having to put loads of small saucepans on the gas This can stand on the woodburner there. Finally drilled the pan and fitted it Friday afternoon. Tested and water tight.
welsh1
Through work I post out lots of engineering inspection equipment to our engineers, the cost is approx £5k a year, it all goes by royal mail special delivery,it just about always gets there by 1pm. We have had recorded delivery parcels posted to the office that have gone missing, some parcels arriving with contents removed, we also hate parcel force as they misplace items for a week at a time. Special delivery gives a basic £500 cover and for a couple of pounds can be increased up to £2500. No complaints on this one service. Interesting, we had a Parcel Force driver a few years ago who would deliver and use one of our names, parcels went missing and upon investigation the name he was using was NOT at work on that particular day! We have a different PF driver now!
Bobba
Pre covid our regular postie retired. We know from speaking to posties that the depot manager decided then to save money by not replacing our permanent / regular postie and cover the round with overtime and volunteers. Inevitably the service has been intermittent carp. Complaints have been ignored. Yet, they still demand 95p 1st class stamp and 68p for 2nd. Over time they will be masters of their own downfall. scobydog
Sent a scope by Rmsd to Skye a few months ago and it arrived next day before 1 pm, but quite often get neighbours letters and vice versa, so both good and bad results from my perspective. S I had to return a jacket that was, alas, too big. I posted it Thursday afternoon, second class. arrived and the refund's already been confirmed, so that's not too bad at all

JohnfromUK
Most post gets through fine but last December I posted two letters in the same post to a friend in Staffordshire, one second class, one first class (mistake over birthday and Xmas cards and forgetting to put in same envelope!). Second class one arrived next day ............ first class one a week later. Also last year, a Christmas card posted to me postmarked in Leeds on 19th December arrived here at the end of March.
