Alright then, so how weird is it?

My 2p. I’ve had a spaniel and been round hundreds. I’ve not seen a spaniel yet that wouldn’t follow their owner into water.

And the dog was found bone dry.

So, without knowing anything other than cocker spaniels, I’m 99% certain she didn’t fall in that river.

Armchair sleuths, discuss.

He probably shouldn’t be second guessing the police or discussing his views in public, right? (Insert shaking head here).

Does anyone still think we shouldn’t be discussing this or the police decision to focus on their ‘theory’ she went into the water, thereby closing off all other lines of enquiry and public assistance / awareness?

I increasingly find this forum stocked full of some very thick people who are only too happy to entirely switch off their brains, turn off any enquiring thought or go against the Daily Mail or what they are told. The situation to hand isn’t about some massive conspiracy - but it raises a number of questions which should be discussed and considered.

There we go.

Remember this post especially this bit

I’m still amazed the dog was bone dry.

We’ve just spent the weekend in Devon seaside town and every spaniel we saw was drenched.

im still wondering about the BBC interview with the ole boy who found the phone on the bench and "the dog tied up".....

which promted him to phone the authorities....

Let us hope it is not her, BUT it will be someone's loved one found dead in the river.

As I said in the beginning I didn't think it was right to second quess maybe not emiediat  family looking in but close friends maybe  now thoughts are with her family  should have thought of that before some of the accusations was put out there

The body has either traversed the weir, which appeared to be impossible given the slow current, or she went into the water below the weir.

Autopsy might throw more light on how she got there. It seems amazing that the body appears to have travelled one mile in three weeks and was spotted floating on the top. The diving expert concentrated on the area above the weir.

I'm sure it will,  I've said before I couldn't imagine a body being on the water and not being spotted. When we had a dog I was up and down our river every day, going much further when off work,  and I'm sure the locals will have been being extra vigilant when they have been out lately.

Can you not say it then?

If your waiting for @Mungler to say the police were right, the media a joke, I wouldn't hold your breath.

Body's will sink and not come up until decomposition starts which in cold water can take several weeks.

There’s a reason that to become a Field Trial Champion, the dog has to pass a water test to ensure it will willingly enter water.

Just the mere fact that this test exists shows that there are spaniels out there that will refuse to enter.

Absolutely, a friends Spaniel was very reluctant to go in water, mine however actively seeks it out

I have not joined this converstaion before, as from the start I said she had gone in the river either accidentally or by preferance. As said bodies sink and in cold conditions can take up to three to four weeks before coming up due to the decomposition gases bringing them up.  NOT a nice job for the crew recovering, I have been there a few times myself as both coroners officer and local bobby.   Terrible for those two youngsters. They are going to need a lot of care and attention in the next few years.

As i pointed out previosly....the BBC yesterday interviewed the old boy who raised the alarm he said during the conversation that "the dog was tied up" and found the phone on the bench which prompted him to call the authorites....this interview has not (as far as i know been repeated)

which would account for the dog being dry...and nowhere near where the bodyhas been found...
