Compared to some of the things being mooted, a lot of this is relatively positive

Very happy to see that the proposal of moving shotguns to section 1 was rejected. A lot of the other extreme suggestions didn't make the cut either.

The survey is slanted, but the report itself was not as negative as I had expected. Nice to have a small victory for once.

Where can we see the results?

... Is a shotgun cartridge (which doesn't require a licence to purchase an own) considered as ammunition in the eyes of UK law?

Have you tried to purchase cartridges a) with out your cert or b) someone else's cert and a signed cover letter? No gun shop i've ever been in would sell them to you. And a lot i think would not sell them to you with option b.

Just because it becomes a store policy, or even good practice, it does not make it law.

a. Yes. Successfully a fair few times at various grounds. I will say never in a store front of a retail outlet. Gun shops are not the only place to purchase.
b. I have heard this is possible, again I have no need to try so not sure how to demonstrate that either way.

As above. I nearly always buy at shooting grounds and have never been asked for my certificate, they know that I have one. Same price, no travelling, so the obvious place to buy. The last time that I bought from a dealer they didn't know me from Adam but were happy with the photo of my certificate on my phone.

Consultation done.

5. Not everyone knows someone that's a doctor, GP, lawyer etc that knows them sufficiently well to vouch for them. Also, they aim so high then include landlord??! That's...... bizarre.

I believe the fact that MP's are on the list is what sets the bar.

Yesterday BASC published guidance on completing the Home Office survey in response to the consultation and the Association is urging every shotgun and firearm certificate holder in Great Britain to have their say.

Recommendations to merge shotgun and firearms licensing conditions have been dropped prior to publication of the consultation. This was due to lobbying by BASC and others, on the grounds that the proposals were neither evidence-led nor proportionate.

However, there remain several harmful proposals that need to be opposed, and several helpful proposals to be supported.

Click here to read the guidance and submit your response - it takes 5 minutes

Why is there no mention on the survey of this recommendation..

The Government is also in the process of reviewing firearms licensing fees to move to full cost recovery for the police. We intend to consult on the new fees this Summer and to bring forward the necessary Statutory Instrument to make the fee changes later this year.

Should full cost recovery also be applied to things like Notting Hill Carnival, Pride March or other non crime police involvements.

It will have a footprint including IP, so I would be cautious about replying multiple times for fear that they may disregard those results.

It certainly wasnt intentional, the first time I did it from from a tablet, and didnt put my details, then I thought, maybe they wont count it without details , so did it again from my work computer on a different network with name ect.
Then I saw this thread and realised you dont need details...

How do they distinguish between multiple replies from the same person or different people replying with the same IP, e.g. two people who shoot who live together?

I do get your point though.

I decided not to give my name and address as the survey was not hosted on a government site and there didnt seem any guarantee who would have access to the data.

it is true that the police are paid to do a job no matter what but for us they expect to be paid twice.do all criminals pay for the 10 or so police that turn up and escort them to the police station and do they pay for the custody sergeant to process them.if we pay do the crims that are locked up pay for bed and breakfast also ?.also do they pay for all court cost ?.should also make the crims pay for the taxi service to the police station too.why as tax payers should we foot the bill for this?.just not fair.
