Blimey! Rebuild it?

It was a wonky old boozer, set, as I remember it, in a fairly derelict post-industrial area, whose only interesting feature was that it was wonky.

Authentically wonky, due to the old pit beneath it.

To attempt to replicate it would make it as authentic as a Disney fairy castle.

the council should make a point of rejecting any planning application

Unfortunately, whilst the Council might well feel that as well, it is virtually certain that any rejection without firm grounds based on established planning guidance, policy and 'quotas' for areas would be overturned on appeal.

I live less than a mile from it and no, it wasn't me.

The media, locals and allsorts are all over it.  Rite of passage sort of pub but not that good.

Funniest thing about it is that a two piece were booked to play it called "GASOLINE AND MATCHES", but they had to cancel.

caravan site 1/4 mile away also, not saying there is any connection. couple of public footpaths gain access at rear of land

Time will tell.

Or the new live action Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.

They can just go over the councils head anyway.

Given the trick that been blatantly pulled by the new owner, the council should make a point of rejecting any planning application that isn't a replacement for what has been lost...

I think everybody can see what's happened here , be nice if the council did block all planning applications made on that site but they will just appeal , maybe time for the police to do there job and make arrests and then given some serious jail time more chance of me beating Eddie izzard in Brighton

Hello, if it is found the new owners were responsible for the fire then they should pay for the fire brigade costs

I wonder if the powers that be can find out when the initial quote for the demolition buldozer/digger hire or work was dated as it seems a bit quick from fire to demolition

Guess, but the 'new owners' own an adjacent 'waste business' which shared the same access.  My guess is that they will have - or have close contacts with owners of - digger/bulldozers, so doubt much would be learned  - and someone would have to take the initiative.  That's not common with Councils or Police these days.
