sandspider
Hi folks I'm having trouble getting anyone to service my oil boiler. It's fairly new and in good nick and it was serviced last year - does it matter if I leave it for 2 years rather than every year? Did a bit of Googling, but all the answers were by people that service oil boilers, and all the answers were therefore yes! Thanks
Krico woodcock
It'll be 💯%.. definitely no need to service every year.

If over a year then you need to get it serviced to matain the warranty.
Smokersmith
We didn’t service ours for 10 or more years. It’s had a service now every other year, but no issues 👍
sandspider
Thanks all. Warranty expired last year it seems, so I won't worry too much about getting it serviced this year. Next year 👍👍

Dave at kelton
I service every year with local engineer. But not other comments.
billytheghillie
Mine is done every year, you will be surprised the amount of soot and crud that is in it, worth doing every year. Every time the engineer is here he changes some of the burner nozzles.
samboy
I have mine serviced every year to keep the warranty going, £65 each time.

JohnfromUK
Modern systems often have a magnetic filter for the circulated water. Mine has, and every year a 'fair amount' of black mud/sludge collects in it. These are easy enough to DIY cleaning videos on line, e.g. for a Magnaclean below, but Google for your type if you have one fitted
sandspider
👍 I have one of those, and empty it once a year or so. Not much black in it, tbf- the whole system was power flushed before the new boiler went in.

ditchman
always make sure your engineer does the tank filter and inline filter...alot of the fuel can be a bit rubbish now
sandspider
Chap is coming out in a week or so. Think it's going to cost me a good bit more than £65! Will see how dirty it actually is, and maybe skip next year
oowee
Mine is done every year and it's around £200.
sandspider
At least yours is more expensive than mine, that makes me feel a bit better! And apparently my usual chap does clean the inline filter, though not the tank filter. That's probably never been cleaned or replaced. Thanks If it’s fairly new it may come with a 5-10 year warranty depending on brand etc. Check the conditions of that warranty / guarantee as it may be void if not services at set intervals.
