Instability with frequent changes of government like Italy (68 governments in 76 years apparently) Depends on how it's set up. For sure it would better reflect the choice of voters. Hopefully Labour can start with reform of the Lords (not holding my breath) as proposed.

I very much doubt it, the Conservatives have been given a kicking because of Covid and the Ukraine, and the fact they've done nothing for a good few years, people were fed up, and now they've got Labour! There is no new labour, Corbyn was re elected, if he's still there then so are others. SNP got a battering, no Cons in Wales, despite Wales having been a mess for years. Reform took seats, and now they'll have to actually do something, but what can they really do with so few seats? 50 minutes ago, Mungler said: We should all crave the smallest state / government possible and a government that sticks to just filling in pot holes, running the schools, providing an NHS for emergencies (not boob jobs, gender transitioning or ironing out drunks and druggies past 11 pm) and making sure the army can do what it's supposed to do. That's it. Wouldn't that be nice, but it's not going to happen, I'm just wondering what Labour will mess up first??

ditchman
Farage dosnt need to do much.....he will make his presence felt ...but he will watch the Labour govt destroy itself ....via wokism.....indesision....and EU love -in.....when the govt starts to go all carp......then Farage will start making a real noise.... im no pundit i just think thats the only thing he can do.....i believe even if he had 30 MP's he could do no different... Theyve got labour who have already said they cant do much different, they dont have the resources, the intelligence, or political will to change anything. Lets be honest, the result wasnt unexpected, voter apathy, a desire to do something 'different' because the last government didnt ? We just go round in circles, and its mainly because the vast majority of voters dont understand how government and politics really work. Labour could have copied the tory manifesto word for word, and they would still have got the result they have, thats how stupid we all are. Reform put on a decent performance with numbers, the MP result is disappointing but not unexpected. The real winners are the lib dems, who without making any noise, grabbed those who couldnt bring themselves to vote tory or labour, so picked a middle of the road party thats equally rubbish, again, apathetic and stupid. Be prepared for nothing much changing, and a similar thing happening in 5 years, where a wishy washy tory party regains power, maybe with some Reform support, and we start the stupidity cycle over again. Albeit with 5 million more mouths to feed.

The Tories achieved less than zero in 14years and trashed everything. Every service, every part of the economy, crime, prisons roads, schools, simply everything. I don't envy labour dealing with this hospital pass. Starter for ten must be higher public standards. Hard to see how the Tories can come back ,now their base is divided, in a term so labour may get an extension. The test will be holding it together.
