I agree up to a point but what do you do when presented with a selection where you don't want any of them?

At the last election there was nobody on the list that warranted my vote. I would normally vote Conservative but there was no way I could endorse that lot for another term, Reform would be the next best but they are not in a position to run the country and Labour are awful but I admit they seem to be turning out even more awful than expected.

At present we do not have any political party fit for purpose and a high number of politicians right across the board that are not fit for anything at all.

Besides all that, whatever I voted would not have made a scrap of difference under the current system, the result was known long before polling day.

AI will sort it? 🤔

I have always believed that if you don’t vote then you have no right to complain!

Voting should be made compulsory with fines for those that don’t.

I’ve also voted since I was old enough, and agree that if you don’t vote then you can’t justifiably grumble, but I don’t agree it should be compulsory or  fineable not to do so.
That would be undemocratic and totally unenforceable. Its simplicity itself to spoil a paper, plus its a guaranteed method for those disgruntled by the compulsory factor to elect some party such as Monster Raving or todays equivalent.

A more positive way maybe, to have a box that says "none of these"?

Once again, spoiling your ballot paper, in the UK at least, *is* counted & is the official ‘none of the above’ option.

I gave up voting many years ago ,at my age i've seen them all come and go .

Makes absolutely no difference whatsoever which lot are in ,it's always us lot who suffer their lies and incompetence .

The average working bloke still has to get up at the crack of dawn every day ,he's then taxed to the hilt .

As i have said many many times before , same trough different pigs .

Reform could not have done a worse job than Labour are doing now. And your last paragraph is why nothing changes under the current system. People are brainwashed into believing the only options are to vote Labour or Conservative or it's a wasted vote. That's utter nonsense propagated by those holding power.

It makes no difference because in your lifetime you've never seen a party in power that wasn't Labour or Conservative, if you, me and the rest of the country want to see real change, we need to vote it in.

Succinct and so true?

No worries about the true costs of anything as they just stiff the expenses pot?

Doesn't matter who gets in the opposition always blocks what they want to do.

Not so much the opposition as the uncivil service and the biased judiciary.

Pre Tony Blair, the government of the day, if it had a majority, could enact the legislation that it wanted, as Margaret Thatcher successfully did by sorting out the stranglehold that the unions had on British industry and by abolishing the GLC.

Blair stuffed the civil service and the judiciary with lefties and recreated the GLC in the form of the London Mayor, so thwarting many of the efforts of the subsequent Conservative governments.

Had Cameron had an ounce of grit in him, he would have reversed Blair & Mandelson's meddling.

I disagree with you on this one if you can’t be bothered to go and vote or just don’t want to vote as I see it shut up and put up with whatever the party that wins when they make decisions you don’t like
