Chard
Hate it. guess it is a result of not having kids, or at least none that their mum wants me to see. | The excitment that I get from my god-kids christmas is wonderful but in reality I hate the time of year. Sad, single and over 40. Not a good combinatio at x-mas. I love it, though it can be a bit of an anti-climax towards the end, but then there's a couple of good shoots to look forward to I do sympathise Clueless old chap, I was in that situation for 8 years. My ex-wife poisoned my son's mind against me and I didn't see him between age 6 and 14, but it backfired on her bigstyle. When he got to teenage, he got talking to one of his mates Mum, who I used to know and she told him it was all a load of old cock. She arranged that we met up and we're good now, albeit at opposite ends of the country, but he's 25 so gets up this way from time to time and drops in. So it could all change All the best. Doc Holliday
I love Christmas but I do hate all the commercial hype that comes with it. The shops, I feel, could take the heart out of Christmas if we let it. When I was a younger lad Christmas wasn't really a time I enjoyed that much due to the family arguements that always seemed to accompany, and brow beat, any joyful tidings which may have been present. It was almost a case of "You can have Christmas and enjoy it but, by God, it's gonna be bloody miserable for you!" Anyhow, the OH & I have a very pleasant Christmas these days. Just her, me & the dog. We go to Yalding Yuletide Market on the first saturday of every December (was on last saturday and it was the best one yet). We then get the tree on the sunday and then decorate it the following weekend whilst playing carols and drinking mulled cider or wine. I usually bring home the turkey on 23rd or 24th, which the Mrs inspects and gives her nod of approval. We usually try to go to midnight mass and then on the day itself I'll get up, have me a bloody mary (this year I'll be using my own chilli vodka) or 3 and act as sioux chef while the OH does justice to the bird. I'll fetch her drinks and prepare the veg (most of which we try to get off the allotment - to include our own carrots, parsnips, swede & sprouts). After we've had our lunch around 3 pm we'll just veg out. Hopefully this year she'll want to learn how to play cribbage. We usually take the dog for a good long walk on Boxing Day. All in all, it's a lovely, peaceful time and certainly gives me time to reflect on the year past and what I can do differently the coming year. Peace & Goodwill to all. Just realised I didn't put anything on about presents. Just goes to show how much importance that plays. We only usually get eachother something if we know they're going to like it/love it/want it. And we rarely go overboard with it. Edited December 8, 2009 by Doc Holliday
shaun4860
Hate it due to "other" reasons. People end up spending money they cant afford on presents that the people dont really want.....i "do" the card thing but thats it.......no presents exchanged either way (i informed the family of this in 2004, they not happy but accept it) Will visit me mums grave early morning, then take the dog out. This year i think i will be having a roast stuffed duck with all the trimmings but on me own..... Will take the dog out again later and then just veg out. Then life will continue like it does every other time of the year. Shaun.....(Scrooge to his friends)
Aled
I enjoy Christmas, more so because of the good break i usually get (last year 16 days, 12 this year not bad at all!). Get to spend time with family, see the kidds open presents, get to do some shooting. Love to see the hounds go Boxing day, my home town is always at its best, excellent feeling of unity and community. Tight Lines Aled
Breastman
Nothing inspires suicide more Loving giving presents and the opportunity for more drinking but i despise the fake 'niceness' and commercialisation with a passion Mark
Mrs Sweepy
As far as i know i am working Christmas and new year. I love christmas eve best. Get up early and start baking . My lot disappear so its just me and the dogs. Put a few christmas songs on and sing my little heart out as i burn the mince pies. By midday i have hit the bottle. And the dogs have gone into hiding. (dont know if its my singing or dancing thats scares them the most) At four i can bake no more.By then i have lost the will to bake I have the table full of goodies. And my lot decide that it is safe to return. From four onwards it is Suzy time so after Sweepy has hose me down in the garden (believe me if i been cooking i really do need to be scub down with the yardbrush) I then go upstairs for a bit of pampering which involes pulling everything i have to wear out of my drawers,a glass of wine A nice hot bath plus wine.. And then to do battle with the curling tongs while i juggle the remainding bottle of wine in my spare hand(by then i have given up on the glass) And then i am tranformed into the perfect hostess. So Sweepy then props me up against the hall wall ready to welcome are Christmas eve guests. xxxSuzy

jonno 357
Christmas is fantastic. I love buying presents and the whole build up to christmas. Lots of parties gigs and booze Over endulging on the christmas lunch after a few beers and champagne toasts. Then spend the next 3 hours on the couch f4rting after ovedosing on the sprouts I set a record of eatings 28 sprouts at the EX in laws one year.It turned out to be a rather windy afternoon Lets not also forget the poor ******** that are without loved ones or homeless. jmooney
I love it. It's tough though because things are so damned busy and I don't know how it is over thar but it's become so ridiculously commercialized over here that it takes a lot of the joy from it. Especially now with two little ones running about I'm really trying to make it a special thing.

Chris Bb
Hate it. OK for those with children (not kids, only goats have those), youngest in this family is 28, long past time to stop. Have worked it in past, will do again in future, no worries. I have to admit I do like roast turkey, especially with my own home made chestnut stuffing! Don't stand behind me after, though! Marcus
I'm not bothered myself these days. I do like to see the children enjoying themselves at Christmas, I also like treating the wife. I was lucky as a child, I have good memories of Christmas, I like my children to experience the same.

Lord Geordie
Normally i LOVE Christmas but this year it's all really getting me down All the boy wanted for Christmas was a new flat screen TV I found one for a decent price but have a card payment to meet and the water bill to pay as well as Electric and gas all before Christmas. The Car also needs a new Fuel filter and pulley (best part of £100) and to cap it all off recently my money went down by £50 a week Working it out between NOW and christmas I get £500 of that £350 is spoken for in bills alone Bit of a cr4p christmas really. It's that bad I am having to sell my Guns to make sure the Boy has what he wants as it MAY be a **** Christmas for ME but I don't want to let the Boy down ho ho ho merry Christmas! Yeah Right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Edited December 9, 2009 by Lord Geordie

Chris Bb
 **** me, I bet you like your I's dotting and your T's crossing Not at all, I just hate the use of this particular word, give children the respect they deserve by calling them young humans, not goats. Alternatives not based on other species are OK too.
