And Fentimans Root Beer is quite good. Its botaniclly brewed, just like their D & B, unlike all the chemical rubbish you get most places now. Come to think of it a chippy tea with some D & B would be topping about now!

Our local fish & chip shop used to cook everything to order in beef dripping which was changed regularly, so none of the nasty whiff of rancid oil you find nowadays.

The old lady who owned it was kept busy shoving spuds through a hand turned potato peeler which looked something like a giant mincer when the place was rammed out after the pubs closed on Friday and Saturday nights. It closed for good when she died but I don't suppose it would have lasted long with the current regime of H&S.

A bag of chips was a tanner (2.5p for you youngsters  )

Being able to jump on the bus even as it was pulling off.

The crisps "Puffs", used to cost 2p in the tuck shop after school

The sweets in those big jars in sweet shops, the ones shaped like monkey nuts

Some of the Asian petrol stations around Manchester sell them singly too :)
