grrclark
I had a nose at this site, following a link from another thread. I saw this custom engraving on a Krieghoff K80. No denying the quality of workmanship, but what are the opinions of the PW collective on the engraving in the link below. My thoughts are this proves the old adage, "sometimes less is definitely more" I'm quite sure there is a story behind it and it means something to someone, but would it be your choice? http://www.krieghoff.co.uk/engraving-custom-jungle.html
Cosmicblue
It looks remarkably tasteless to me.....
sonicdmb
Not to my taste but you've got to admire the skill. I like colour case hardening and a scroll border personally,
bicykillgaz
Not to my taste but you've got to admire the skill. I like colour case hardening and a scroll border personally, +1 not my cup of tea but some fantastic work.

welshwarrior
Couldn't of have happened to an uglier gun. I'd not have it on my guns I'd also not have a krieghoff Edited April 21, 2014 by welshwarrior
rimfire4969
That is horrible Sure the workmanship is great but if you are having a jungle theme at least have animals from the same continent, only way you would find these animals together is in a zoo
Tim Kelly
A fugly gun made fuglier!
Gordon R
You can admire the skill to actually do this. However, the judgement is off the scale. An ugly gun on its best day - made truly dreadful.Who - with one brain cell - would buy that piece of junk? Apologies to PW members who have already bought one. Bleeh
Looks like a commissioned piece that was never paid for (as it looks half completed)
grrclark
I though it was absolutely awful, but i guess if we were all the same life would be terribly dull. A definite case that plenty of cash does not equal plenty of taste.
Gunman
Looked at the other photos of engraving they offer . Laser work or not ?
Scully
There are some stunning examples of engraving out there, and while I can admire the skill involved I've always preferred my actions as plain as possible. I very much like case hardening, but still without engraving. As much as a fan of 101's as I am I still consider the deep engraving on the Diamond Grade to be pretty dire. The example in the link does nothing to make an already plug ugly gun less ugly in my opinion. It just goes to show that having money is no guarantee against bad taste. Big Al
Tacky and (ironically) cheap looking.
JohnfromUK
In my view, you can't beat extra fine English rose and scroll (also known as 'Purdey style'). Best grade examples are exquisite in detail, but not at all ostentatious.
