ChrisAsh
Quite a lot of popular but quite old (+10 years) fairly basic shotguns (68* and similar other makes) offered for sale on this forum, many 28inch or less Not one person at my shoot uses 28inch these day all either 30 -32 inch Seconhand guns dont have a guarantee and no idea of how much use Now these are not english best guns by anymeans so why the silly high prices when you can but new guns for not much more
Stonepark
If people are prepared to pay the price and they sell, can they be over priced?
Harnser
Give us a couple of examples of over priced guns . Harnser
wisdom
Nothing wrong with shorter barrels if you can hit things with them..One of my favourite guns was 26" bored cyl and cyl and I could hit most things with it it was my shooting not the gun that caused the misses If someone gets a cheap gun from here and it starts them off in our wonderful sport there are no losers. Wabbitboshers arsenal has some good guns for sale. All are cheap. Edited January 9, 2016 by wisdom

Gordon R
There is a Miroku trap gun - multi-choked for Mickey Mouse money. Ported barrels might explain the price, but still a bargain.

Blackbart
32 inch on a shoot ? really ? never seen anyone roll up at our shoot with a 32 incher......shooting every saturday in the season ! Most have 28 and the odd one with a 30. The price for any gun or anything really is only too high if no one buys it, what might be too high for you might not for the next punter who looks at it. Duckandswing
I actually think the best value guns are on pigeon watch. Bought a couple on here from great people too.

I do a lot of game shooting and use 32". I've also seen other guns using them. It probably depends on whether they have more than one gun, the type of bird that is being presented and the terrain. I agree they are not as common as shorter barrelled game guns. A lot of people don't like changing guns and shoot clays and game with the same one. fortune
Not one person at my shoot uses 28inch these day all either 30 -32 inch Why is that then? Barrel length is only a fashion. you only need 25 to get a full burn. I personally prefer shorter barrels and use 25 but I do have some real long ones. As long as 28. The targets don't seem to notice the difference.
Gordon R
It would be easier to clarify if we knew which guns we are discussing. Perhaps the OP could mention the guns with the "silly high prices", as I can't see them. At the opposite end of the scale - Wabbitbosher sells guns at prices never matched elsewhere. His prices are the lowest I have ever seen.

figgy
I think I know some he refers too. Silver Pigeons for just under a grand when can be had new for not a lot more. Some of the early berettas are fetching strong money because folk want them as opposed to modern ones. I still don't think they're particularly over priced. BerettaSV10
There are some good bargains on here, several recently, as figgy says the older Beretta's are fetching good money as they were made when Beretta's were built to a high quality and standard, the modern Beretta's are built for mass production rather than quality in my opinion and from my own and friends experience unreliable. B25Modelman
As with all Forums you will read posts from people/users who feel that as long as it works (in this case goes bang) there is no need to spend loads of cash on it. I have seen fairly high priced S/H quality guns, with years of life left, run for weeks if not months for sale yet they are only 1/2 maybe even 1/3 of their new price. There are people who can feel quality and those that can't. In some cases those that can't like to ridicule those that can who buy expensive guns. I sometimes look at this Forums name Pigeon Watch and think...no pigeon shooter is going to be in the field with a £50,000 H&H or Browning but there is absolutely no reason why he can't. It's all about how you want to spend YOUR (hard earned) money and what YOU want to spend it on. So long as you are satisfied why worry about what others think. bruno22rf
The only over priced guns on here are the ones that remain unsold. As far as I can recall, every gun I have bought via this forum has been a bargain and worth far more than I paid, worst one was a Fias that, after having to replace the cocking dog, ended up costing me £200-but its still a lot of gun for that money (its a medalist high rib ej)so cant really complain. fenboy
I have seen one or two over priced but I have also seen plenty of bargains too , generally if they are over priced they do not sell anyway , most people will do a bit of research before shelling out a few £100 . One thing that does annoy me though, a few time now I have seen guns for sale on here for a certain price only to see the same person selling on facebook for a chaeper price. kent
Buyers don't half mess about online so I recon it's to be expected for sellers to do likewise

MAB1954
Supply and demand controls the market simple as that, you pay your money and take a chance. However like in all walks of life a lot of folk buy the name or go for the fashion fad of the moment. Personally I have Zabala, Mossberg and Baikal shotguns and CZ rifles thus for not a lot of money I have something to cover the game/target shooting I take part in. Just my view we are all different. robbiep
As has already been said by most. For example, a new Beretta SP1 has a list price of £1600, though you can get a discount on that of £200 or so. So it costs you £1400. An old Fixed choke 686 is at least £800 (on guntrader), with more modern ones from £1000 on there (again, I assume that you'd be able to get a bit off those prices). On Gunwatch, a 6 month old SP is available for £1,150. Get a bit off that by haggling well, and you are going to buy a gun that will lose £200 over the next 20 years. £10 a year : the same as it costs for your SGC !
