dougall
30 odd years ago these were head and shoulders above everything else, however the prices now are frankly daft and cannot imagine they are noticeably better than the usual stuff from hull/gamebore//rc etc....... deershooter
The machinery that made the Winchester compression formed cases was on its last legs ,it was far too expensive to replace so they were discontinued a few years ago. Winchester still load but use parallel tube cases The Winchester .410 shells are not £400 per 1000 they are £688 per 1000 at just cartridges Deershooter

DrBob
Aaaaaah, nostalgia ain't what it used to be! Remember Garlands, Summer 1983, Thursday evening practice sessions with a bunch of renegades. The standard cartridges then were Winchester AA Trap 100 ( low brass head) Trap 200 (identical but with high brass), the proper compression-formed, welded crimp cartridges. Absolutely top class. or Eley Olympic Trap, blue case, tinned base Olympic Gold, red paper case, brass plated shot, Eley's premium load Maionchi were popular, as were Rottweil. The standard load was 32g, recoil was certainly an issue after a long session. Around £70 a thousand as I remember............. Found some fired Winchester cases recently, they are the parallel-tubed, three-piece assembled ( Reifenhauser style) cases, just like everyone else. Read some of the American forums, most people seem to hate them!
