bumpy22
after mixy hit alot of my ground 2 years ago it has been a real struggle to find decent numbers. had a friend of mine ring me tuesday who i shoot with and he said alot of the ground we cover south of me has now got signs of mixy. I am looking at some new ground later to take on but i think it will be mainly fox and roe. my ferrets are not going to work to much this winter. how are the rest of you guys doing on the rabbit front? mick miller
****** all. I think the buzzards are nailing all the young ones as soon as they poke their heads out.
kennett
Numbers have built up ready for a thinning, but have killed 2 with mixy in 2 days so looks like we have it again!

bumpy22
picked up some large pig units that i have been foxing on recently. a few rats but with regular visits from a bait man numbers are not high. like to work the terriers on them once sheds are cleared. i have plenty of shooting. just got some land signed of for me and a shooting partner today to go with about a dozen or more patches golf courses, private schools, farms, pony paddocks, orchards etc just not many rabbits on them as there were a few years ago. me and my mate cover a few thousand acres and he said the ground is being decimated by mixy. as the cover grows back the ferrets would be being worked alot. they will have to live on venison lol Edited September 15, 2016 by bumpy22

Never not seen a rabbit in there.... we had a few 50s and 60s in a night last year on a single farm in glastonbury but now mixy has hit. i get calls to deal with all sorts of pest problems regular. but over the last 2 years most of it seems to be foxes very rarely get rabbit damage.did do a farm by the motorway with a mate i have not been out with for a while managed a few last week . just dont want to shoot too many as numbers are so low. browning123
5 years ago I was asked to control rabbits on a local farm, there were hundreds there. And I was shooting around eighty a night with the rifle in the evening upto dark. Mixey came and hammered the rabbits, they have never recovered and the disease comes back every late summer. Dan7626
We went out on the quad bike a couple of weeks ago with the lamp and over 2 nights we had over 200 rabbits. Ploughing some headlands today and must of had 30 run out in front of me. Certainly no shortage around here.

srspower
For me the numbers were incredible in spring but now after all the harvest pigeon shooting i am hardly seeing any rabbits on my perms.
team tractor
Record year in spring but now I've hardly seen any. I had 15 in a hour in April time but I left them a bit and they're gone. The owner says mixy is back and the buzzards are taking them . Zetter
My main permission has had a bit of a resurgence as I was mainly hammering one field that the farmer wanted them sorted on so they have popped back with gusto on other parts of the farm. Four in the space of an hour yesterday sitting in one spot which is great for the farm concerned as they are quite nervous from years of shooting. On the flip side at work where I have permission to shoot I had a bumper year last year then mixy hit and there are only a few hardy survivors left so I am letting the numbers recover a bit. foosa
Plenty of rabbits down ere, on many different bits of ground. Has been all year.
Dan7626
We are over run with both buzzards and rabbits. I was ploughing last week and had 30 odd buzzards landing behind me. Yet they don't seem to dent the rabbit numbers.
Dekers
More rabbits round here than I have seen for years. Mixxy just turned up on one site for the first time this year!
clakk
The farmer said not many rabbits here but,i manage a couple with the shotty each outing.Probably about 5/10 on each area of warren across 6 different places. And no sign of mixxy and plenty of young this season
Adge Cutler
We are over run with both buzzards and rabbits. I was ploughing last week and had 30 odd buzzards landing behind me. Yet they don't seem to dent the rabbit numbers. They probably wont a healthy population of both is a perfect balance. Populations will fluctuate with rabbit numbers as its their primary food source. After the rabbit was virtually wiped out in the 50's 60's Buzzards followed very quickly. Thankfully many historical colonies of Rabbits appear to have built up some immunity to Myxomatosis. Plenty of both around these parts.
