Just watched Trump on the news.. backsliding already and boy he appears to be completely out of his depth.

His advisers really have their work cut out I feel in the years ahead.

At 70 has he really got the ambition for a completely tangent career. ? and one which carries with it such gravity ?

Radio 4 interviewed a General just before the election. He said this: 'It's very hard to govern by a primal scream - but you might get elected by one.' I think he's realising that all the rhetoric, the hot air and the posturing is now completely useless and he has to now be a leader, which means going back on a lot of all his promises!

He's now said Obamacare's got some seriously good points and that since elected he's barely thought of having Clinton investigated. He won't be able to build the wall, so what's left? America waking up to the reality of a president who's realised he can't deliver on the things that got him elected. And I thought he was a different kind of candidate...

Prior to the election my impression was......if he wins he will be way out of his depth! All bluster....no substance? I have seen nothing yet to change my view! If this proves to be the case it will be Interesting to see how the US get out of this one!

I'd like to be proven wrong!

Your only seeing what the media wish to show you and we are all aware of how unbiased they are, are we not. Unfortunately we have become the generation of instant gratification. the guy has still not been sworn in and everyone wishes to see a wall between the USA and Mexico completed. The left wing media have been so screwed by the result that you can bet they will take every opportunity to drag him down.

I don't think that personally to be honest.. he may have been tired of course, but his overall demeanour gave me the impression he was somewhat bewildered.

It's hard to blame the left wing media when it's Donald Trump's own words! 74% of Trump supporters listed the abolition of Obamacare as their primary voting concern (taken from the right wing comment website hotair.com), yet Trump comes out of a meeting with Obama saying to the press - right, left, centre press - that there were some good points to it, one of which is at the core of Obamacare and is deeply hated by the Conservative base of the GOP.

It was him that said he'd barely thought of getting Clinton investigated - and the spokesperson from hotair.com said that he's incredibly unlikely to do it, because it opens up people doing it to him.

You can't blame the lefty media if it's trumps own words, especially when even right wing media is admitting they might have just elected yet another flip-flop president!

It could just be that the disenfranchised people who voted for the first time and carried Trump to victory are the very people who benefit from Obamacare?

yup - unfortunate isn't it? The RNC has been desperately looking for a candidate that can reach out to the disenfranchised, the young and the out of hope. Suddenly they have one and it's all got a bit awkward, because it turns out a lot of them are being helped by democrat politics!

In a nutshell .........

On Trump's first day at the Oval Office after being elected President.

First briefing to the President by CIA, Pentagon, FBI:

Trump: We must destroy ISIS immediately. No delays.

CIA: We cannot do that, sir. We created them along with Turkey, Saudi, Qatar and others.

Trump: The Democrats created them.

CIA: We created ISIS, sir. You need them or else you would lose funding from the natural gas lobby.

Trump: Stop funding Pakistan. Let India deal with them.

CIA: We can't do that.

Trump: Why is that?

CIA: India will cut Balochistan out of Pak.

Trump: I don't care.

CIA: India will have peace in Kashmir. They will stop buying our weapons. They will become a superpower. We have to fund Pakistan to keep India busy in Kashmir.

Trump: But you have to destroy the Taliban.

CIA: Sir, we can't do that. We created the Taliban to keep Russia in check during the 80s. Now they are keeping Pakistan busy and away from their nukes.

Trump: We have to destroy terror sponsoring regimes in the Middle East. Let us start with the Saudis.

Pentagon: Sir, we can't do that. We created those regimes because we wanted their oil. We can't have democracy there, otherwise their people will get that oil - and we cannot let their people own it.

Trump: Then, let us invade Iran.

Pentagon: We cannot do that either, sir.

Trump: Why not?

CIA: We are talking to them, sir.

Trump: What? Why?

CIA: We want our stealth drone back. If we attack them, Russia will obliterate us as they did to our
buddy ISIS in Syria. Besides we need Iran to keep Israel in check.

Trump: Then let us invade Iraq again.

CIA: Sir, our friends (ISIS) are already occupying 1/3rd of Iraq.

Trump: Why not the whole of Iraq?

CIA: We need the Shi'ite gov't of Iraq to keep ISIS in check.

Trump: I am banning Muslims from entering US.

FBI: We can't do that.

Trump: Why not?

FBI: Then our own population will become fearless.

Trump: I am deporting all illegal immigrants to south of the border.

Border patrol: You can't do that, sir.

Trump: Why not?

Border patrol: If they're gone, who will build the wall?

Trump: I am banning H1B visas.

USCIS: You cannot do that.

Trump: Why?

Chief of staff: If you do so we'll have to outsource White House operations to Bangalore. Which is in India.

Trump (sweating profusely by now): What the hell should I do as President???

CIA: Enjoy the White House, sir! We will take care of the rest!!!

Very good.

Obama has said as much.. When got the presidency he had all sorts of things he wanted to do.. then he realised how little he could actually do.

Apparently (on the radio )

The us goverment has lots of checks and balances built in to it to stop a dictator type of person or group moving too quickly and causing more issues than it solves.

We have the house of lords that should put

the long term of view and things into perspective.

Although he has taken office, some are taking the mickey - saying he is back-tracking. He has announced he won't be taking one dollar of his £400,000 salary.

No doubt someone will try to make something of that. Totally unlike many of our own MPs with their noses in the trough.

I've been driven mad tonight by more liberal friends for God's sake democracy exists if you don't agree with a democratic decision then that means you've lost an argument it does not mean everybody else is wrong

Democracy does not exist only if you agree with it it exists at all times if you don't agree with it you're not a liberal you're a fascist this is a fact by definition

People in this country and others need to accept this for years I was a labour voter most of this time I was disappointed but that's how it all works

As a foot note I would never vote for that bleeding moron

From Rachel Johnson (Boris's sister) - "his voters took him seriously, not literally, we (she includes the panel and liberals, elite, media etc.) took him literally, not seriously". This was a good observation as to why he won.

In The Spectator, Brendan O'Neill wrote the article, 'The Sneering response to Trump's victory reveals exactly why he won' and draws parallels with Brexit. John Harris in The Guardian wrote a piece along similar lines.

http://blogs.spectator.co.uk/2016/11/sneering-response-trumps-victory-reveals-exactly-won/

So now people are picking over what he has said, in literal terms, to discredit him. This is typical of the response and is part of the reason why he won and as in the Spectator article is so similar to Brexit. I note the absence of critique on what Obama said he would do, such as closing Guantanamo which he didn't, or looking at the problems with NAFTA, and failing to have done so delivered so many votes into Trump's hands.

That might be because the income from his own businesses is significantly more than his presidential salary and he is not allowed to take two incomes . ???

No one throws away 400k a year unless they don't need it.

I think he will soon realise he will be pretty impotent and will not be able to deliver his manifesto to his voters. As long as May can take advantage of the political turmoil and uncertainty there at the moment however , for the good of our own finances I don't care if he's paid in hair dye.:good:
