Electric Oven

We've just had a £600+ electric oven installed. The customer brochure stated: 'You may want to purchase a grill pan handle as an optional extra'. I'd say it was a necessity to remove/insert the pan. You'd think for the price, one would be included.

I checked on their website and one could be bought for £13:95 + pp. It's just a piece of bent/shaped metal bar!

To be fair, I never use our grill pan handle, by the time you've faffed about slotting it on, and then sliding it along to the middle, it's quicker and easier to just quickly pull the shelf forward and lift the bacon off with the tongs...

Look at it as having saved £13.95 + p & p Steve

Good thinking Mike. although I was considering buying her the handle as a Xmas present. I'm sure should would appreciate it! :innocent:

Mole grips ?

If you saw what happens when I grill food, you would need Mole Grips to get it off the pan. :)

We got them to throw in the grill pan handle and i said take the oven back to stock as i am not being rinsed for a handle after spending a fortune on an oven - its sat on the rail above the oven for 10 years now...... we just use a tea towel - i would be really miffed if i had paid the extra £20 odd!!

Our oven came with a grill pan with a handle that wasn't screwed on.

If you screw it on the plastic handle burns/melts sooner or later as the handle ends up too near the element and the pan is difficult to stow in the oven when not in use. If you use it unscrewed the handle is so loose it's dangerous, it would be easy for the whole red hot pan to slide off the handle if not held exactly horizontally (we've tested this cold).

So, we've never used the handle, simple!

The one available for mine (the wife's) has a clip on handle. She said that she's not going to bother, but will write to the company and complain!
