fortune
The whole ethos of basc has been rotten for many years and anyone who thinks that the coming and going of a few personnel is going to change anything is just sliding the bar a bit. The org should be there to support it's members. How many times have threads on here developed into a bashing and in the shooting field it's name is not held in the regard that it should. And for anyone to start saving that it is, is blind and ignoring the problem and perpetuating the rot. The antis will win because they have a solid 100% target and that is too stop what shooting ect is all about.

That's just nonsense; lots of different bits of rhetoric glued together but not to make any sense. All that's missing for the bingo card is 'Range Rover'. I'm disappointed. Dunkield
A bloke down my pub met someone once who's sisters brother in law worked there, I think - anyway, he said they all drive round in Range Rovers paid for by the members

welshwarrior
And organisation run on bullying unfortunately from this shows. A new broom and start with a new head shed with a leader not manager running it is what is required now.

grrclark
Reading some of the comments on this thread have made me laugh. A sizeable chunk of arrogance, incompetence and failure of governance by some senior management. A statement that would hold true with an alarmingly large number of businesses in this country. An inglorious period for BASC no doubt about that, however the remedial action that has been taken since is appropriate. Some notably worthy observations; BASC council did exactly what was expected of them and this should provide encouragement to members as council held the exec's to account. Peter Glenser appears to be doing a fine job as Chairman showing appropriate diligence and governance in moving the organisation beyond this episode. Not without fault but moving in the right direction. I have found some of the staff to provide excellent support and advice on a personal level for licencing and insurance as well as lots of support for our club/ That's just nonsense; lots of different bits of rhetoric glued together but not to make any sense. A lot of people are not appreciating how difficult it is to accuse the Chief Executive AND head of HR in any organisation, especially when the Chairman seems to be in cahoots with them as well. Just look at the trouble Jason Bourne had with rotters in the management!

motty
I agree with Fortune. There is a rotten element in Basc. They are certainly not held in high regard by shooters, like an organization of that kind should.
wymberley
You could tell which way things were going when, at the game Fairs, they changed the seating in the members' enclosure to plastic tables and chairs from the straw bales. There's many a company with worse senior management than BASC, but few have had the guts and determination to put things right. BASC have removed the rot at the top, not an easy feat due to employment protection. You are forced to play the long game when dealing with such things, although Gross Misconduct was dealt with rapidly. Those removed didn't go without a fight and that damaged the organisation. It is impossible to be 100% about any staff recruited, but hopefully current recruitment policy will be less focused on past status and more on competency and whether the incumbents are genuine team players passionate about shooting and conservation. Without those elements, there's no place for them in BASC, or shouldn't be. Shame about Alisdair Mitchell. He seemed to be a casualty in all of this mess, and must have been as fed up as the rest of us with the mess at the top. Good writer, keen sportsman and an all round good egg. Dougy
What a shambles, might pop off somewhere else next time for my insurance, hate to see my money wasted.! Mike Lol Your going to be totally scuppered then when you go shopping, just about every large company in the UK (you could possibly go EU) has had corruption at some management level. Add football to that as well, suppose your going to stop watching that too. Lol BASC have dealt with the matter by dismissing the bloke, and add to that the "now" public humiliation that the pilfering plonker now has. They will most probably be able to get a large sum of your funds back if they haven't already.
