Royboy
You know what they say about people with big shoes ?[/quote Yeah' that they have big feet lol. Them Loakes look really good.I wear. Ted baker brogues for going out and paid £160 for them. Used to be a real shoe and trainer freak and bought all the in Style brands from Steely Dans,DM'S,caterpillar boots and the New Rock boots. Don't think I splash out over £200 on shoes these days though. I keep my brogues in good nick by rubbing Dubbin on them. Big socks actually ! BrowningB525
I really like like shoes. They fit my budget, are made in England and look smart.
JDog
Stevo, I wonder what your Grandfather would have thought about the man who wore these shoes? My Grandfather had the same expression. From the left, funeral/wedding shoes, 'going out' shoes, indoor shoes and every day casual slip ons.
Guest stevo
Jdog I have a pair of the Oxfords on the first left for my gentlemans evenings. I find they are the best looking when one has to lift his trouser leg 😜
Hamster
I'm not fussed on make as such it just has to look and feel right, very happy with Barbour, Loakes and some Italian ones I forget the name of, even have a pair of Clarkes boots which are proving near indestructible. Wilksy II
I've had a pair since 1976. I used to wear them a lot and wore out one sole. Sadly they no longer fit but I will never throw them away. Those shoes are a year younger than me! I'd like to think I've aged better, less tanned and leathery looking! Also my Grandad said' spend your money on good boots and good mattresses cos if your not in one your in tother!' happypig
20170317_222650-800x600.jpg Sorry lol Do you know what the holes in mans Crocs are for? They are to alow your self respect to leak out
Scully
I have the same pair as you have shown in the foreground of your initial post, but after having leather soled Trickers for donkies years ( still have them ) in both brogue shoe and boots I went for the synthetic soled Loakes. Have had them for a year or so now and must admit I prefer them to the Trickers. At Lowther last year I found a pair in a muted red; they were gorgeous, but at £699.00 a pair they would need to be.You're right; this thread could turn a bit gay! Edited to add....no, I didn't buy them. Edited March 18, 2017 by Scully

Wb123
Id rather like a pair but given the rate at which i wear shoes out at work I just cant justify spending that much on walking. When not at work i seem to live in my aigles.

Dougy
Do you know what the holes in mans Crocs are for? They are to alow your self respect to leak out That's OK my self respect is safe thanks, I always wear socks so it can't get out through the holes. Anyway apart from my £9 pair of Crocs these are a few of my other foot coverings Hunter Boots, (not my best buy)Black Clarks work shoes,Barkers Oxfords (a nice classic shoe) Loaks, and then a pair of nice comfy casuals. I have a pair of Barker Brogues upstairs and was trying to remember how old they are, I've got to 23 years. They cost £100 ish, initially they seem expensive but look at the time they last they always show good returnstuff in valu6and looks. figgy
I'm waiting for someone to post a pic of their glittery party sandals with stiletto heels. I find not all makes of brogues suit my foot shape and as they take so long and numerous blisters and blood to break them in, I like to get as close a fit as I can. The rubber sole is s must for me in winter shoot brogues. Stevo I know the sound you like of leather soles with the steel tips. It's that slight crunching of dust and sand on the leather sole after the click of the heel tips. Nothing like it, right up to the point your walking in the rain step into a shopping centre and go flying on the polished marble floors, the sound you make on hitting the floor isn't as nice. old'un
Hoggs of Fife do some good shoes, plus their Braemar wellington boots are good at £45, bit like the old Hunter wellington that are now rubbish and cost around £75...........https://www.ardmoor.co.uk/hoggs-of-fife-shoes?gclid=CMqnzf-F4NICFSIL0wodoWwOIw

39TDS
Bought my Son some Alfred Sergeants last year. Very nice I bought mine some but he didn't look after them so I took them off him. Had mine probably 20 years and had them resoled twice at £70 a go.

Had mine probably 20 years and had them resoled twice at £70 a go. My last two pairs have been Danite - so far so good. One pair of Sargent's which I've had for some 20 years have never been re-soled. To maintain integrity of the shoe, protect the leather sole in the wet and avoid Figgy's dilemma, before use I get leather soles fitted with a good quality stick-on and simply replace that when necessary.
