Ultrastu
So every morning in bristol (hot wells ) There are usually a couple of cars parked in a lane (left over from the night before ) that impedes the traffic into town .and every morning a recovery truck drives along and lifts the cars away .so the lane can be open and traffic flow . This boat is exactly the same . Lift it and take it away .impound it and then charge £500 to recover it . Job done .

welsh1
So after blocking off Cardiff for a few days the protesters took their boat home with their 4x4, but first they filled up with diesel.

ShootingEgg
So turns out someone I used to work with, works with the girl I this story.. And is upset at the amount of online abuse she is getting and that the BBC has to answer for it.. Begs belief, they asked questions she answered, and now cries at the abuse. The blockage denied a son seeing his father the day he died. But its okay the protest is still the right thing to do.. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.thesun.co.uk/news/9533155/extinction-rebellion-protest-eco-warrior-father/amp

Chaz25
I was thinking are they protesting the extinction of idiots? because as long as there is a breathing human couple on earth there will be a fair chance of more mentally inept beings spreading over the globe. fatchap
As a driver in London, when they where there chaining themselves to anything that didn't move and some things that did. I have to admit the police with their knee jerk reaction to everything in London caused more congestion and chaos than the protestors could have ever hoped to achieve. The police closed roads that were not even close to where the protesters where or going, pretty much bringing London to a standstill which was what the protesters hoped to do over two weeks, and in the end didn't have to lift a finger to cause a fortnight of sheer carnage up there the rozzers did it for them Edited July 18, 2019 by fatchap
Vince Green
All the people they interview on TV as a 'spokespersons' seem to have incredibly posh accents. Do I detect a trend? All the placards seem to have been provided by Socialist Worker, do I detect another trend? Guillable rich kid student types wound up by the hard left as cannon fodder? One of the organisers of the London protests was a proper posh bird whose dad owned the largest haulage company in Surrey. Hmm lorries, diesel fumes, pollution. Lets hold up london to ease my conscience, not forgetting to park my Bentley away from the media.
vmaxphil
As UK only produces 1.02% of the world's pollution I feel this is more of an anti establishment protest under the veil of saving the planet and as the UK is one of the best at reducing its emissions from what I can find on the internet maybe protesting in China might be more productive

Yet the privalidged hippies sat on the entrance of a motorway all day and only in the afternoon did the police start to act. Mate of mine who is a beat manager said they allow peaceful protest. I asked if I sat there peacefully protesting about cyclists riding 3/4 along side each other at 10/15mph how long till I'm moved. His answer, 30seconds, yet these idiots get a full week!!!! Manipulated cleverly and cynically by some very nasty lefty anarchist types who operate in the shadows behind ER, LACS, and many other 'disturbances'. 15 minutes ago, vmaxphil said: protesting in China might be more productive It will get you straight to jail - the Chinese don't sit by and watch demonstrations! vmaxphil
Point is if we go neutral like they want it will make little difference to the world as a whole unless the top 15 polluting countries get their act together

guzzicat
At the end of the day, it is down to us individually. How many of us buy new Nike type trainers evry 6 months. Have we considered the carbon foot print of those, our bicycles and our mobile phones which we change each year when a new model comes out. The impact of downloading a movie, the cost to the planet of our Spotify/itunes subscription Look at the photos of the protesters. Their clothing is doubless made in the far east. I spotted Nike and Adidas trainers looking remarkably new in many of the photos. Look to yourself and start the process AT HOME before disrupting people just to gain some deluded satisfaction from superglue (where is THAT made and what is ITS carbon foot print???) I know that because we're not the worst offending Country, that is no reason not to set an example or to do our best to be clean and green, but the hard reality is that whatever we do will make no difference at all when the likes of China and the developing countries will happily throw all environmental issues onto the big bonfire that is fuelling their growing economies. I read somewhere that every week China opens up a new coal fired power station bigger than the largest in Europe. If that's true then it's incredible and evidence that we're all screwed and there's nothing we can do about it because short of WW3 we certainly won't be able to tell or convince the Chinese government to abandon any of their new shiny coal fired power stations anytime soon. An interesting conundrum for the hard left, given that the worst global polluter is errrm the hard left. It's not easy to take a hit on your standard of living. Even trying to reduce your footprint is likely to cost you. Most can reduce if they try but it's so much easier to blame everyone else. We are all mostly in the same boat and I should really cut down on air travel but I don't because i want to travel. No one wants to hear the voice of protest that calls us out for what we are. 12 minutes ago, Mungler said: Bang on.
