There was a TV piece a few weeks ago on a crowded beach, they were interviewing a woman and her two daughters, the woman complained about the stupid people crushed in to a small space, she failed to see that she was actually part of the problem ! ......typically its everyone else to blame

Wow, if that doesn't show that the public think everything is fine I don't know what does.

Get them back to work.

Too dangerous to work; too dangerous for kids to go back to school;

so let's all go to the beach for a day in the sun, then on 4th July we can all have a big party to celebrate lock down 'ending' pubs opening again etc.

3 weeks later - second wave .........

I note that the WHO says rates of infection are probably rising again in the European areas that have relaxed lock down.  https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8460103/Europe-seen-surge-coronavirus-cases-easing-lockdown-warns.html

And they leave their litter on the beaches (tons of it) and toilet ( both No 1's and No 2's) anywhere the can, and leave it for others to clear up. Disgusting behaviour in every respect.

Oh so that's what the windbreaks were for!

Hello, while I can understand people's frustration on getting out it does show a lack of care against all the NHS workers still working long shifts to control the likely deaths and those in isolation

Absolutely,  30° in full ppe while others flocked to the beach.

People on a lake district group I'm on have been putting some lovely pictures up of what's being left in car parks, normally you would flush it.

I did wonder when it would start being reported, or if it would be?

The problem is the old one of 'give them an inch, they take a mile';

It is right (in my opinion) that businesses are allowed to reopen under the right conditions - and those should be inclusive of a 1m PLUS social distancing (and by that I mean 2m which can be reduced to no less that 1m for short period where 2m cannot be achieved), no large gatherings, no mixing of households other that within the strict rules, and personally I think there should be a much tighter restriction on non essential travel (maybe a 20 mile limit on travel for leisure?)

My worry is that we will see a resurgence that threatens to swamp the NHS/care facilities - and the Gov't are faced with a 'lock down again?' decision.  Would people comply with an new lock down?  I am doubtful.  Can it be enforced/policed?  No - I don't think it can.  The police are largely powerless (through choice??) when faced with a mob.

Very handy we can place any and all the blame on folks going to the beach and no blame on the demos  for BLM. if we have another spike  JUST SAYING LIKE.

No: I heard smeone from Bournemouth Council interviewed and they were all open ........ but there were so many people that there were big queues - which caused people to 'make their own arrangements'.

The NHS workers are bound to feel hurt.  They had had the short straw in this - and this is a 'kick in the teeth' from (many of) the public - who they thought were on their side.

Not by the (the majority of) public necessarily - but BLM are untouchable by the police, bit like travellers etc.

If you put aside the motivations for people congregating in the first place, I don't see any real distinction between the BLM protestors, the counter protestors, people on these beaches or the LFC fans outside Anfield last night, I agree that it must be a kick in the teeth for NHS and indeed pretty much all key workers.

Suggestions that the COVID / lockdown experience would trigger people into being more socially responsible and drive a sense of higher civic duty sadly appear to be busted for the myths that they were.

That said, it's not rightly clear what conclusion we can / should draw in the event that these incidents do not lead to spikes in the infection rate.

Personally speaking I can't wait to get back to Chesil beach for some fishing and North Wales for some mountaineering but at present won't even go across to Holland & Sea to fish for the roker for fear of getting caught up in a beach mob debacle. I currently have no idea when it'll be "safe" / sane to go back to North Wales.

Perhaps we should wait 10 days or so and see if there is a steep rise in cases.

And if there is no rise, perhaps the restrictions/advice will hopefully be relaxed more.

Agreed. I'd imagine the data on this based on the recent protests (London, Bristol etc.) must already be available.
