Mungler
It’s been a while since I’ve been gun shopping and was wandering what the current synthetic semi of choice is. Something that needs next to no maintenance, is lightweight, can go in the dishwasher if need be and if I drop it I won’t cry. My favourite site picture is the standard beretta - flat rib, bead on end etc. I can’t get my head round anything with a stepped rib etc. I was going to go with my beretta pump, but that’s pretty heavy recoil on the face with a heavy load. So, what’s the recommendation and what’s about Essex way? Cheers all.

Farmboy91
Depending on where abouts in Essex you are might be worth giving Independent shooting supplies a look, they've a few semi's on guntrader there and I've always found the customer service spot on. Lloyd90
What would you like to spend? I like to balance the performance vs the cost... I did like the Beretta A400 Xtreme but couldn’t justify the extra £7-800 over a Maxus myself.
sam triple
Again budget is key you could get a Hatsan for few hundred good starter gun or pick up a Franch Affinity second hand for around 600 as I have done
Scully
It’s got to be Benelli for me. First choice of every ‘keeper I know, and I know lots. Bombproof.
Mungler
In the past I’ve had an AL391 in wood and in synthetic and an Extrema 2 - probably should have kept hold of one of those. I’m looking at the Maxus Carbon fibre, but can’t find one in Essex

I think the best mix of value, relaibility, and handling would be the SX3.

mudpatten
Benelli SBE 2. The aforementioned Benell Click is down to operator error and is easily mananged. Many don`t realise that the recommended loading method with a Benell is different from other semi autos. I`ve had mine for eleven years and have found nothing during that time that I`d even think about replacing it with.

My suggestion is just based on the keepers I know, and my own Benelli. Im not a wildfowler but have experience of quite a few semi autos, but if I wanted something other than a Benelli as a dedicated foreshore workhorse, I’d plump for the Baikel MP 153. It just looks and seems ( from everything I’ve read and seen ) the tool for the job.

Ran 1000's of carts through my Vinci without a hiccup. Speed loading most of the time shooting PSG. I don't get how people are loading it and not getting to bolt to seat properly? Gerry78
Don’t go near the new browning A5 utter rubbish nothing but trouble with it ended up trading it in buying beretta 👍
Stimo22
Have a look at the Franchi Affinity, these are basically built the same as Benelli but lots cheaper. Been using one for several seasons with no problems. Comes with 7 years warranty so good deal

figgy
I have the synthetic Maxus 31/2" if I was changing it would be a Benelli SBE, I'd look at both the SBE2 & SBE3 the version 3 has the updated bolt that stays in battery so no Benelli click. The Benelli are far better finished than the Maxus.
