They do it all the time.

I've had a telling off this week for selling a rifle during the Welsh lock down.

Feo told me "we won't do anything but if/when trading standards find out you'll be getting a fine. I've told all the shops they can sell ammo but no guns".

Other shops have apparently been told no such thing and an hour o  the phone to trading standards confirms there are no rules and they agree that pest control covers rifles and ammo.

Will be interesting to see what comes of it...

I know only a handful of police officers I’d trust after this year.
ive been pulled in the past and held my hands up as I was in the wrong but after being dragged out my house by 5 officers this year without a proper caution or being told why . I’ve lost all faith.
I’ve been up town drinking and had them harass me with sitting on my own minding my business.

Chief muppet of Suffolk police on TV just now complaining that “people have been travelling two hours to get to the seaside beaches which isn’t right”. He should have added that it was in his opinion as it is still perfectly legal though.

You are perfectly correct it is not illegal - however when people have been given guidance and requested to "stay local" a 2 hour drive to the coast for a walk is, in most peoples view in the current situation,  extracting the Michael more than just a bit.

Then make it illegal and cut out the ambiguity. You might think it is unacceptable, Chief Muppet might think it unacceptable but myself and many others don’t. And the problem when you have people in authority giving their opinions it creeps through society and no doubt you will have coppers in Suffolk now trying to fine people when they haven’t broken the law.

out of interest what do you think is acceptable? 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour?

And why not two hours? What is the increased risk of spreading Covid if I travel for two hours rather than 30 minutes assuming my behaviour is the same?

A few years ago there was an incident that was something of nothing. I was very lucky in the fact that the copper dealing with it was a former Army SSM and was a level guy. I know that if I had of been dealing with a different type of copper that I would have more than likely lost my guns for a good length of time - even though it was totally unfounded.

They bumped up the curb in the van and started telling me to stay away from the own house, I was in tears and they were laughing and joking about me needing a tissue .
now on the other hand . I have a few ex and current police friends on here and they have been amazing with support.

Personal view  30 minutes will get most people to a pleasant walking area that is relatively local.

It very much depends what that "same behaviour" is.  I have noticed it particularly during the former lockdown and again last weekend being in a rural area well less than 2 hours from current high infection areas (ie Manchester 60-90min, Leeds/Bradford 90min, Sheffield/Rotherham 45min, Nottingham 45min, Leicester 45min, and Derby 45min)  A majority of those  visiting show no respect for the guidance on social distancing and group sizes that the locals try to abide by.   I am aware from your postings that you tend not to believe in this guidance so this would mean nothing to you.

You are completely wrong I am afraid to say. Whilst I disagree with lockdown I do agree with social distancing. So I’ll ask again. If I travel for 2 hours what’s the increased risk of transmission of covid vs travelling for 30 minutes assuming I behave the same (i.e social distancing) in both situations?

To be fair little difference, however it also depends on infection rates and behaviour in the to/from areas.

That would probably take longer to go through parliament or such like while everyone complains its against their rights, didn't Wales and Northern Ireland have a 5 mile travel limit in place?

2hrs travelling to the beach is certainly not sticking to any sort of lockdown it's just going for a jolly.

And its that sort of attitude that will likely mean more lockdowns after xmas, roads are still busy, people are still out and about.

Again explain the relationship between the distance travelled and the spread of Covid? There isn’t any. People are confusing bad behaviour in respect of social distancing and distance. There are people who will travel five minutes down the road and not socially distance and people who travel for two hours and do.

We are in another lockdown,  the idea is to minimise movement and travel,  only go to work if you can't do it from home, travelling 2hrs to the beach isn't necessary,  is it ok for someone from a high covid area in the Northwest to travel 2hrs to a lower area and Risk spreading the virus, it kind of makes the lockdown pointless.

Suffolk is FULL! Of covid refugees. Especially on the coast/East. Second homes and lets are full. Folk were piling in loaded with extra bedding/food and bikes before lockdown like it was peak season. Did you see the pics of folk choking up the roads outa London late last Wednesday night? I thought they must of been fake? Look at covid map and stats. Suffolk has a very low R rate. At mo! it's rising! That's why they are coming. Guess it makes them feel safer. Never seen coast carparks so busy this time of year. You can drive across Suffolk easy in an hour. So those folk from way out of county and probably from a higher tier area which if you are your not supposed to leave/travel to a lower one and a rule they said would still exist after lockdown. Does that mean the tier system is carp?      NB

In the first lockdown, a large part of the reason behind the "guidance" or however they want to call it regarding not travelling and staying at home was not to reduce infection but supposedly to reduce the burden on the NHS.  The logic was if people were doing less they'd be having accidents less and therefore needing to go to hospital less.

I've always questioned that.  Nobody considered the wisdom of RoSPA who state that "53.6 percent of all injury-involved accidents occur at home" so my logic says you should go out, it's safer!  I'd like to bet there were many numpties during lockdown 1 who fancied becoming an avid DIYer and ended up in casualty with bits missing.

I believe @ditchmannow has 10 fingers and thumbs after an accident in the first lockdown 😂😉

You come across as pretty selfish. Oh, it’s not actually illegal, so I’m going to do it, even though most people would frown on it and think it’s selfish.

The difference is, you travel from a high risk area to a low risk area.

yea you wear a mask in shops etc, but you touch things, the masks aren’t 100%, it spreads. If it didn’t spread despite these 2m rules and masks, then why is it still about.

I was in saundersfoot the other month chatting to a guy who had come down to his holiday caravan for a holiday from a high risk area with lots of cases just before they were locked down! I just stared and him wanting to call him a tw..

What a selfish individual. Hey come on kids, there’s loads of people coming down with covid around us, and they are locking us down next week, let’s go on a trip somewhere with plenty of old people and a low risk to ensure we spread it to them while we still have time..
