chrisjpainter
Covid infection on 14th December is the basis for the exemption Djokovic: Covid infection gave him vaccine exemption, lawyers say - BBC News I'm not sure how he's different to the Czech player who's already leaving in similar circumstances, but I guess we'll find out... This is not regarded by the Australian authorities as grounds for an exemption apparently. It was accepted by the Tennis Assoc and State Government but Federal Government has now stepped in and saying not acceptable. He had previously confirmed he had had and recovered from Covid and as such the medical excemption was previously infected and recovered (Natural Immunity to reinfection) therefore not able to carry or transmit the virus and therefore has as much antibody protection (if not more) than the vaxxed.... who can still carry and transmit the virus but have a pieve of pepare showing they have had some jabs. old man
The Australian Governments big mistake here maybe? Not to have stuck the arrogant man straight back on the plane instead of prevaricating? The tennis association needs sorting out too for putting money in front of citizen health? 6 hours ago, Newbie to this said: Or more accurately, Rules for some, not for others. ? them, us, none? Stonepark
Many countries allow a recent COVID infection as a reason for an exemption from vaccine requirements. But Australia's federal government released a letter soon after Djokovic arrived showing that it had notified Tennis Australia that was not necessarily the case in the country

His team submitted an anonymous medical report which confirmed he had recently had Covid (and natural immunity) and they green lighted his visa. But he should have known that that country with their civil unrest and strict lockdowns weren’t going to make an exemption for him to roll out his anti vax band wagon. Medically, he’s right that he doesn’t need a vaccine, but back in the real world what did he think the most locked down place on the planet was going to do for him / to him? 😆

In Nov our son and D in Law emigrated from Singapore to Australia. Their end destination was Perth. The Rules did not permit them to fly direct to Perth. They flew to Melbourne and despite both being triple jabbed had to spend 10 days in a nominated quarantine hotel. After 10 days they could not visit Melbourne as tourists but had to go direct to Perth where they now reside. That is how strict the arrangements can be. He says people in Perth do not understand how Djokovic could’ve given exemption and believe he should leave on completion of quarantine. Apparently the science says that if you get any of the strains floating about right now, you do get natural immunity to the others. Mind you, my eldest is double vaxed and has had it twice so who knows which way is up? Science aside, it really makes me laugh that he thought that he could rock up to the most locked down country on the planet, unvaxed and do as he pleased or fight and win against the Australian government. What a pantomime.
