Imperfection Posted August 8, 2011 Report Share Posted August 8, 2011 The problem is caused because much of Virgin Media's connection to Germany is broken. The server that we use is hosted in Germany as the deals available out there are much better than those in the UK (approximately half the price). This is why PW may seem to be the only site affected. Fraternizing with the enemy used to be frowned upon. At the moment everythings running tickety boo so looks like they've got it sorted. Seems odd that this is the only site that seems to be affected - maybe there is a specific issue with their caching engines. Anyway, I've been with Virgin (and NTL) for over 10 years and hardly had any problems with them. The occasional blip but certainly nothing major or repetitive. :stupid: Not being able to get on for last 3 days seems OK now so they must have fixed it.. activeviii Posted August 8, 2011 Report Share Posted August 8, 2011 I phoned in to the office and asked whats going on. we found it was a problem with the link in Germany that didnt want to talk to virgin uk. it should be all sorted now. i dont normally have problems with virgin net, i get 9.5 from a 10 meg connection but then i set mine up with a clean run of cable right to the amps.hehe. When I walked in to pay by card, I was forced to go to a cash point to draw cash as I had inadvertently travelled back to the 19th century in Maryport, Cumbria.
