Which ever they’re following, it’s further regional instability in an ever declining world and that can’t be good.

Dictatorships may be undesirable in many peoples eyes and the suppression of its citizens, but for overall stability, then they did seem to offer something.

Some of the groups have an ideology similar to the Taliban and reports out of Afghanistan say they are hoping Sharia will be implemented.

Al Quaida affiliated groups are calling for the Jews and Crusaders (Christians) to be driven out of the region.

Turkish backed groups have an agenda against the Kurds.

Israeli aircraft have struck a chemical warfare factory to stop the rebels getting hold of weapons and on the border IDF troops have helped repel an attack on UN forces.

The inaction of Hezbollah and other Iranian proxies shows how much they have been weakened, and Russias limited help shows how much Ukraine has damaged them militarily.

Spot on.

Either Russia wants refuge immigration to flood and destabilise Europe as part of a long term plan or Ukraine has bled Russia dry of resource and Russia can’t spare even a handful of planes.

In the old days Assad just needed a few planes and some poison gas to keep control but now, they couldn’t even muster that.

We really do need control of our borders and right now. Will that happen? Not a chance because we’ve left idiots in charge for too long.

Is the right answer

Worryingly i dont think your far off from the truth and the future of this country, its very clear that nobody in  position to look after this country has any foresight to see any further than their own front door.

Very worrying specially as we see whats happening at ground level but nobody else has any iota.

Very sadly your last paragraph is far too close to the truth?

Because maybe they either are really stupid or it's part of their master plan?

There were reports that the soldiers were changing in to civilian clothes and heading for the border with Iraq.

Just more rubber boats?

Very true, we know Saddam was a nutter, but the region was largely ordered when he was in charge, he was the one killing his own people.

i certainly think there will be some vicous infighting ...before a postion is found

It’s another basket case of a failed state.

We in the West still possess a total lack of understanding and project our western liberal ideologies; ‘oh look Assad has gone, they can all now have a general election and get a democratically elected system of government put in place’. Not a chance. It’s just more blood shed as the door opens for the next batsh*t crazy regime to rinse the country’s wealth and resources. As someone posted on here recently - it’s just a different foot in the boot that remains on the neck of Syrian people.

Things could come to a head here as we do not know how many are here or who they allign to and this is worrying and  also for Europe amidst the economic turmoil immigration explosion from the Middle East entering borderless Europe

...IIRC Assad worked in the UK for sometime (as a Dentist?) and wife is British.

If he hasn't already got right of entry to the UK, he has a better chance of asylum than many arriving in small boats?

He might be at Stansted already!

This. And we don’t have to look back too far to see the effects of other failed Middle Eastern states (Iraq, Afghanistan etc) on Europe.

If only we had a Time Machine to go back and stop Blair turning the whole Middle East upside down. I hope he had enjoyed wearing that Air Force One bomber jacket Bush gave him.

That made me chuckle.

He’s probably m been signing on the whole time he’s been president.

What I find quite sad about it all was before the "Arab spring" or whatever it was called, Syria was actually quite a stable country with a very high level of adult literacy.

Then some groups thought they could get the west to come in and route the presidency for them.

Now the country could be doomed with all these rival factions. Be careful what you wish for

"The speculation grew intense on social media after open-source flight trackers revealed that the last plane to leave Damascus was an Illyushin-76 aircraft, flight number Syrian Air 9218, which is believed to have been carrying Assad."

Lets hope whatever floats to the top of the rebels is at least half reasonable. It could result in some Syrians wanting to return once the dust settles.

I very much doubt that, it'll be the same as everywhere else, chaos, murder and bad news, why would anyone go back?
