Got 3 grandkids who all wanted bikes for xmas. Found 1 for £70 and 1 for £80 but that took all we had saved up, so third has had to do without until we can afford to buy him one. four-wheel-drive Posted December 26, 2013 Report Share Posted December 26, 2013 (edited) The woman is stupid and should be punished in some way that will not involve the children having said that I have nothing against payday loan companies the interest that they charge is fine as long as you do what it says on the box and pay the money back on time. Where I do blame the companies and do not feel sorry for them if people do not or cannot pay them back its there own fault why would they think that just because someone says that they have a job and can pay it back they are telling the truth they should check up on people. If someone came up to you in the street and asked to borrow £5 with the promise that they would give it back to you in a weeks time if it was a friend then you would probably say yes but if you did not no them you would be a fool to just trust them and think that you would get it back. Posted December 26, 2013 Report Share Posted December 26, 2013 No sympathy for her or her predicament at all,Lots of people want everything 'today' even when they can't afford it.We had only the children and the lifestyle we could afford. Both have grown up well adjusted and with the same mentality as us. Could not be said for a lot of the current generation and their offspring, I could not and would not live beyond my means and by means I mean 'money' I had worked for not benefits. If she has £70 of her benefits left over after paying her bills she is in a better position than I was when our kids were young and I was working full time. Personally I see the loan companies as irresponsible in lending her the money and she was irresponsible in borrowing it with little or no chance of repaying it. They deserve each other! Did she take out the loans and then inform the paper who sent someone round to interview her and take photographs on Christmas day? Or did the paper take round a few 'bogus' parcels for posing with? They all look very happy for a family who are facing repossession of their belongings! Something doesn't add up. For someone who claims to be 'worried' she certainly doesn't look it. I have often in the past laid awake at night wondering where my next mortgage payment is going to come from.
