margun
Truly vile act. Poor France, I have many friends and colleagues in Paris and they have had too much of this lately. As for the disaster in the theatre, it sounds like hostages were texting the police asking them to storm the building as they were being shot one by one. If true I hope the French police aren't judged too harshly. This fundamentalism is causing a complete global cluster ****.

ozzy518
I heard on the news that the hostages were being shot one by one. A ballsy decision by the ground commander to order an immediate action, but he had no choice. There are survivors thanks to him.

sako751sg
Saw 1 report saying its a confirmed minimum of 140 dead which is absolutely shocking. Just a matter of time before we are hit again and scary to think the scale of death and destruction thats possible if they target one specific well attended event. Glad im this generation and not the next few to come as by the time the penny drops/the men in charge grow a set, then its all downhill. We are seeing the benefits of Mr Blair and Bush growing a set a few years back. Whilst Sadam and gaddafi were no doubt very inhumane people they did what the rest of the world is now failing to do and kept these current murderers in check. What do you suggest our current crop of leaders do with the set they might grow. These wars have been going on for many centuries over there and no western forces have ever managed to effect any change so far and in my own opinion will not do so for many many more years to come. bostonmick
Those two still didn't manage to prevent the events of 9/11 though did they?? Maybe not but neither have w stopped the many senseless killings since. But don't worry because our fearless leaders will have what we don't and that is protection for the rest of their lives at whatever cost. digger
Appalling loss of life. Thoughts are with all involved from the victims and their families to the emergency services. I've just spoken to my 15 year old daughter who was planning a trip to Westfield but has cancelled it. I think there will be a lot of empty city centers across Europe today. panoma1
If involved in physical conflict and you intend to win you must be prepared to do whatever it takes....talk, wringing your hands, voicing outrage and stupidity such as imprisoning our soldiers for giving the enemy some of their own medicine will certainly not stop a determined/fanatical aggressor............hit them hard any way you can with everything you've got without quarter!..........the time for diplomacy is when the enemy is vanquished.... Stonepark
Condolences to the people affected in France but where is the outcry for the 1000's killed in Yemen, 10,000's killed in syria, 100,000's killed in iraq etc etc all because western elected goverments and their allies decided to interfere in other countries and ways of life. This, whilst regretable is merely a small sideshow and likely only the start.
