did once consider leaving myself to medical science, however changed me mind as one of me mates has a theory that the moment you sign and receive the payment they send a special squad out to bump you off as they want you as young as poss. he says the squad specialises in making your death look like an accident, dropping a piano on you or hit you with a bus, he, ho crem pile for me

I am surprised that more people on here don't want green burials

I was also of the opinion that simplest idea to almost disappear without a grave and headstone was good but the family are strongly against it

Now, the question is, am I doing this plan for me or for them? After all, I'll be the dead one in this plan and they will be alive, so, am I being selfish?

Hmmmm

Very imotive subject

Personally feel it should be a selebration of life

Mine

Service

outside the church

No black

Bring your dog 😊

Willow coffin

Ashes scattered on my dogs graves 😊

Now here's the thing you can take nothing with you

And if your planning your own funeral you should remember the best thing to leave behind is

Memories 😋

Just my thoughts

Live long and prosper and may you be in heaven a hour before the devil knows your dead

All the best

I'd probably opt for the "no burial" thing - I wouldnt want to think of my kids feeling unable to go and live their lives elsewhere if they wanted to because of any feelings of duty to look or visit after a bit of ground with my bones or ashes buried in it. After all, "I" wouldnt be there.

Maybe a big firework with my ashes in would be a good send off.

That's the problem with my plan, although I have never visited a grave myself I regularly take my missus to visit her brother's. Funerals and the associated bits are more for the living than the dead.

You can have fireworks made from ashes, that does sound quite cool. talk about going off with a bang.

You can also get your ashes turned into a diamond and make them in to jewellery apparently...

For me, I would like to be cremated and ashes scattered somewhere so that my loved ones don't have to sit around dwelling over a bit of mud for ages.

On your first point I totally agree, I have told people they can do what they want, I have no preference whatsoever.

As to the firework, why not? Hunter S Thompson did it, with Jonny Depp's help.

Woodland burial. Old LR for transport, please.

No religion. Perhaps a few clays for fun?

Jeans & polo shirts. My (weird) selection of music, things that meant something to me, everything from classical to techno-trance.

Barrel or two of local real ale on gravity.

Say a few kind words if you wish then get on with your lives, I'll be in your memories.

I haven't planned anything but I think somebody is telling me I should. I have an Amex card and received a mailshot from Amex today. A list of local businesses where, if I spend £10 with them, I would get £5 back. The top of the list was a local 'burial park'.

sounds good , if your not completely happy about it you could get your money back or refuse to pay,

No one has mentioned DIY cryogenics, all you need is chest freezer and a generator in case of power cuts, loved ones could take you down the park on a cold day as long as they left you in the shade and away from crows :hmm:
