ips
On a similar topic... Is there a fibre cartridge suitable for "normal height" pheasant, pigeon (roost shooting) and sim driven clays, sub £200 per K
wymberley
+1 all of the above. But sometimes, I'm not too sure. I needed something for the pigeon for the AYA which has a LH barrel choked 1/2 but doesn't throw it. I was given some Imperial Game (IG) and High Pheasant (HP) in 7s. I figured that with the pellet count they were worth a try for the pigeon so patterned them. The IG threw IC and the HP, 3/4. To my mind, both of those were perfectly suited for their advertised purpose. I think I'm now done with the game - it's walked up and a tad rough at that and my old body won't take it any more - so will use these up on the pigeon, although the IG in another gun. (Un)fortunately, I won't be tempted into actually buying any more of the HP. So, yep, I agree, but occasionally there can be the exception. WinchesterDave
For me, a change meant worse shooting last season haha!! Used clear pigeon the season before with great affect and was being complimented on my shooting. Used clear pigeon start of last season, wanted a change as I ran out; got some game bore super game, used once and never again, swapped to black gold, shooting improved but still not as good as when I shot clear pigeon lol! walt1980
Marketing! But some now turn their nose up at others using a cartridge with the word pigeon on it on a game day! Don't get it myself!
8 shot
Gullibility and £130/1000,all the newbies in our club shoot your Blackgolds,High Pheasant extremes etc. because the man in the gunshop said you will need a good strong cartridge to go with your shiny new gun,but can't work out why they don't kill everything they pull the trigger on..when "ole Joe Bloggs" kills 75%-80% with his 1400 fps,£200/1000 pigeon shells in his old sxs . Wake up and smell the coffee people... Beaters day is the classic. Under 30s Blackgold 35g 4s, Over 30s various brands of 28/29g 6s on 30/35 yard pheasants

Blackpowder
Here I am back on the same subject again mainly the lack of pigeon cartridges for 2 1/2 inch chambered guns. Out of 4 enquiries, including 2 clay grounds , I have been unable to locate any merchant within reasonbable distance who is able or willing to stock 2 1/2 inch pigeon loads. They were all very willing to quote prices for 2 1/2 inch game loads however. Before Clear Pigeon were restricted to 70mm cases I used these in fibre wad for all my shooting. I missed and hit as many pheasants with those as I now do with much more expensive ,'game' brands. As others have said above," what's the difference between game and pigeon cartridges", the price sums it up. Blackpowder

Problem is most people don't use old side by side now so most stuff is made in 23/4"
