For £100k/year maybe he could list his achievements to date? Seems to me that legislation is slowly crippling the shooting community and yet, despite some Laws being passed as a total knee jerk reaction and having no relevance to the real world, as far as I can see the BASC have managed to do Diddly-Squat to overturn them.....banning 5 shot auto's on a SGC....come on? ????

To attract someone of the right calibre, the salary package has to match that of any other similarly sized business. It is of no concern to me, but it may be advantageous to break the mold and select someone who is still trying to pursue a career and not some retired whatever looking for some additional pin money. And one who actually shoots.

Exactly, not another job for boys... However, you get what you pay for, salary seems very light to me as no share options etc.. will definately go to someone doing it for the love of it rather than to cash in.

Well, the BASC is not a charity so comparisons are rather difficult. However I do think the last two Chief Executives weren't the best choices so I hope they do better next time. I rather hoped to be able to influence stuff like this but it wasn't to be.

Well as they operate and get the benefits of being a registered society the nearest comparison for salary scales would be charities.

However, as a society with only 148,000 members, they are, in the big scheme of things, small fry and as such I believe the CE's salary is pitches about right.

Never seen any proof of an existing issue with capacity to justify the change in the law...just the gradual slow burn adoption by the Gov't of their 1973 Green Paper

148,000 moaning members to deal with. Risk to personal reputation from recent staff issues. Trying to influence a political agenda with reason.

I wouldn't do it for £100k.

It's a big challenge for someone, I hope they get the right person to take the paycut, not just someone money grabbing blogger or old ****!

When you look beyond the advert to the job spec and requirements, someone good is going to be taking a 60 -80% paycut

I don't think the new CE needs to shoot, or know anything about shooting.

The BASC has plenty of experienced and expert staff with that knowledge.

The CE should be experienced in management and organisation, their job is to get the best out of the staff and organisation they have and if necessary, be prepared to make changes to both.

PS. The money seems about right.

I agree.

There are some key skills associated with this role. We've had a couple of chaos monkeys in charge. Huge pressure this time. No **** ups please.

What would be your guess at a package?

You obviously have an idea to have raised the subject.

Not really to do with the money .tell me a few relevant things BASC has given us in the last. 12 month .Insurance cover is one any more?Dipper.
