Mr gen
This is how poacher left deer to an agonising death The headline that greeted me and many others this morning in the welsh edition of the Daily Post, it has all the potential to be very damaging to our sport, at a very difficult time with NRW making big decisions about shooting over land managed by them, not to mention stirring up the Anti's https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/how-poacher-left-deer-agonising-14189820#ICID=nsm hope this link works as I have no idea how to post one Edited January 23, 2018 by Mr gen
Penelope
Please excuse me, but how is this bad press for legal legitimate 'shooters', surely it's only bad press for deer poachers?
Mr gen
Any press like this can be damaging to the sport legitimate or not as there is rarely anything said by the authorities about the good work and conservation done by the leagal and responsible licence holders out there. Scully
It doesn’t bother me to be honest; it was an illegal act. To allow this to bother me would be akin to agonising over the bad press lawful drivers attract over the acts of drink drivers.

ClemFandango
all of the poaching debate aside.. exit wound looks like low heart shot, hardly an agonising death, in fact pretty standard shot placement?
motty
Hardly a "sickening image"!

Dunkield
Placement is a little low but it still wouldn't have known much about it.
Dougy
Choice of weapon. Gun or rifle. Such stupid comments.
AYA117
Good luck to them in finding the bullet in an exit wound !!!
walshie
Shot was a bit low, but it wasn't a belly shot as stated in the article. I'd think death was pretty instantaneous. The worse thing is it was poaching and even worse than it's not on someone's plate.
scotslad
Like most have said I can't see how it affects legitimate stalkers or shooters. While the exit wound does look low it also depends on where/wot angle the shot was taken, if taken shooting from uphill and a high seat the entry point might not be that far off And in the photo the deer does look like it was in a hollow. U never know I could have been shot quite legitimately and the stalker just lost it if it ran off at last light, it does happen. Why it can be important to have acces to a training tracking dog (or at very least hae the phone number for UKSHA or UKDTR who will come out and track ur deer for free)
Ultrastu
That article is complete rubbish If shot from above in a high seat(ideal shot placement ) at close range thats exactly where the exit wound would be . Why is it a sickening photo .? Animal looks a bit wet to me thats all . And then the follow up comments on the site are just daft .
sako751sg
That piece looks to have been written by an uneducated clown of a person who really has no right to be commenting on the situation. No doubt those with an agenda will lap it up but in the big picture its an article not worth wiping my **** with.
strimmer_13
love the way it's giving all the areas away to other fools to take a shot. Guess the author had to fill the page
Scully
Some of the assumptions made in the comments section are mind boggling.

moose man
What a load of drivel ! ..Shot placement does look a little low , that may well have run a distance before it died ..Not shot by a gun but shot by a rifle .? Who makes this s..t up ?...clearly an exit wound the round they are looking for will Be were the deer was shot ..I’d be interested to know were the nearest land that is shot is in relation to where the deer was found ..Anyone that shoots any amount of deer will at some time have one that runs on , the secret is to have that base covered when you need to ..have a dog , or someone that you can call on with a dog .This strikes me as an RSPCA purse opener ..hundreds of deer I’ve shot look very similar to that ... ShootingEgg
Im with Scully on this that it was an illegal act, not something that any on here would do. Yes we've all probably had runners, but if you know the land or have a good dog you would find it. The way the article is written is poor at best.
