Sha Bu Le
yes another place has been set at the devils table. Strange (or is it) how the BBC has only reported only middle of the road things about Mugabe and certainly no bad things this a.m.
Pigeon Shredder.
BBC, surely not. May be by this afternoon they will have found all of the old reports of the murder’s carried out, intimidation’s and political misdemeanours, and then there’s the ones of his better half. But l wouldn’t hold your breath

Kalahari
Mugabe subverted democracy from the outset. It was known that the election was not fair or democratic but the British Government would not say so. So we allow people to subvert democracy at our peril. There are people in Britain doing exactly the same thing, they might not be like Mugabe but once you allow democracy to be subverted you set a precedent for evil people to use the same mechanisms for their own ends. Democracy is quite a frail plant and people inside and outside parliament are trampling all over it. David.

Parliament has seized control to prevent the democratic referendum result from being implemented. Not really very much different from other totalitarians like Mugabe and the Nazis. The BBC described Mugabe as a "Strongman". Really... The man was a monster and the media should admit it.

You forgot some of the larger totalitarians Trotsky, Stalin, and Mao Tse Tung but the left wing press has put up such a smoke screen on these that we forget that in many ways they were worse than the National Socialist party in Germany

Mugabe was small fry by comparison but that's no consolation to those of the wrong tribe or the wrong ethnicity who suffered and died on his orders. At least Stalin could claim to be carrying out Lenin's stated aims and philosophy whereas Mugabe just implemented a mindless, hate filled ideology with no overall plans or long term objectives. welsh1
An evil person who killed oponents or anyone who spoke out against him, he took his country from a prosperous nation capable of feeding it's population to a ravaged destitute ruin, all the while raping it for as much money and goods as he could amass Lets hope that there is such a thing as hell and he is now down there paying for his despicable actions for eternity. Eyefor
Having lived and worked in several African countries I predict a bloodbath - particularly on land grab. Where was plan B post Gaddafi and post Saddam? I am not condoning many of their actions and neither was terribly PC but better than what has followed in both cases? Watch this space...? del.gue
Like most dictators they are always responsibile for more deaths of their own people to stay in power, than any foriegn wars they can fight. He was no better than better stalin, mao, saddam hussein....etc etc. The world is better off without him.
bostonmick
A monster of our time there's no doubt. However for years the rest of the world just stood by and watched his butchering ways even inviting him for dinner in some cases. But then again there is no black gold under the ground in that country.
