You see thats the difference where you live to where I live. I know, or know of, eleven people who have died from it. My OH's cousin, late 50s a few health issues but not serious two former customers of mine, both elderly. One allegedly caught it at a hospital visit in the very early days. three former work colleagues, all retired (from the company retirees website) two members of a rifle club I belong to a mate from way back who was in a care home recovering from a stroke a neighbour in the next road a friend of a friend who collapsed and died at home before the ambulance arrived. Had mild symptoms for a few days before. You can see why I would take things a lot more seriously here in London than if I was in North Wales. Vince Green
Just up the road there is a massive comprehensive school which is now back. They have all the measures in place, one way corridors, classrooms are bubbles from which the kids cannot leave etc. All very proper and well run. Then at 3.30 hundreds of kids are standing cheek by jowl at the bus stops and squeezing onto the buses. All the good achieved during the day is completely wiped out. . You couldn't make it up if you tried could you!! Next we will have all the schools saying they have no money left due to all the Corona measures they have had to put in place. I also see it every day as we overlook a massive school where they are all shipped in from the hills - the buses are full - and then when they get off they are supposed to queue up with social distancing to get in the school

PPE, hand gel, screens, additional cleaning staff on during the day, staff freed from lessons to pick up the knackers who won’t just ‘play the game’, masks for staff and students (when needed). 1300 people (in my school) go through an awful lot of gel in one day....... Why? We have a duty of care and if something when wrong, the first direction a finger would point would be at a school and not the kids at the bus stop (incidentally our school issued around 80 masks last night to students who wanted to get the bus home, but didn’t have a mask.) Sorry, I think I came across wrong there - I was (or meant to) emphasizing the futility for the schools doing all that they are doing at great cost - when this is happening at either end of the day - and it is the government putting in procedures that are not thought through

Kids I know going to high school are doing staggered starts and finish, are other people's schools not doing this?

Mine has a single start time but staggered finish (as it always has been due to games etc). But it’s a big campus with multiple drop off points. Teachers / school staff are not idiots. Discobob - I didn’t take it the wrong way, I was just saying this is happening already. 👍

Mice!
Going to school in PE kit is to make things easier for the teachers, you will be amazed how many kids need help getting changed out of and into their uniforms, that's a lot of unnecessary face to face contact with teacher/pupil
southeastpete
Is this 85,000 actual covid deaths predicted, or died of something completely unrelated but had covid at some point? Or ones just recorded as covid because then the usual amount of paperwork etc is not needed..?
