Mice!
I have seen them on the market in Leyland and Preston, I was quite surprised.
NatureBoy
Great! How it should be. What sort of price are they IG? Have no trouble shifting surplus rabbits. Often get folk asking for them. . . . Chatting to a stalking mate the other day about there being no market for venison here at mo and dealers not wanting them or at best 50p a kg. Yet he had seen venison marked up in a shop at £7.50 for 250g. I saw pheasant in a farm shop £3.50 for breast £2.50 for legs. Some mark up on a bird many get for free. If we want a better market for game and more folk eating it we got to stop making it so exclusive. NB
The Heron
Quite agree a friend of mine has been told by a local game dealer if he turns up with a deer there's a skip outside throw it in as I don't want it.

I used to pay 50p a brace provided I took a twenty brace minimum.

I agree it seems a lot but factor in processing the birds, packaging, transport and profit and it soon adds up. Especially as it isn’t a high volume product. mel b3
I think that pic looks really off putting , I'm not sure why , because I shoot and prep plenty of rabbits , and probably eat rabbit at least three times every week. I'm not keen that the guts seem to be left in them either.
stuartyboy
Are they not hares? Look long legged for rabbits and could explain why they’re not paunched.

redial
I stopped taking Hares a few years ago. Numbers down, not everywhere agreed but I think we should try and reduce their decline overall. NB My game dealer offered me 50p a KILO for neck shot fallow last week , explaining he didn't really want it but as ive supplied him for years and helped him when he couldn't get enough he felt duty bound..strange times .. blackbird
The times have moved on lads, today’s society do not eat game If I knocked on my neighbours door & offered them a freshly shot rabbit or pheasant they would probably have a heart attack.
