That's what I like to hear lol. I am quite keen to have it because I rarely get a cold but when I do it all ways seems to hit me hard and on the chest for some reason

It’s a doddle for most folk I think. I had mine over a week ago and just had a bad head, but that could have been the paint fumes. Pop a couple of paracetamol before you go. 👍

I know quite a few who have had the vaccine; in general, some get no side effects (other than possibly a slightly sore arm), a significant number get a day or so of 'feeling a bit rough, flu like cold symptoms' and a very few actually have a couple of days or more of really feeling quite poorly.  Everyone I know of gets over it in a few days.

I had the 'one day feeling a bit rough' version and would happily take that again to have the vaccine.

  • More people in the UK have now had the vaccine (over 50% of adults) than have had actual Covid.
  • Virtually no one has either died or been hospitalised from the vaccine.
  • A large number of those who have had Covid have been seriously ill/hospiltalised, and (depending on how you believe the figures) many tens of thousands (at least) have died

I thought the vaccine didn't actual contain the virus just some dna altering thing which sounds bad enough anyway

This is a false rumour.  It does not alter DNA.

Glad the wife is on the mend Steve. Got to say as some one who was wondering about having it in the first place it sounds bit scary. I had my letter last week and I am due for mine in two weeks. I thought the vaccine didn't actual contain the virus just some dna altering thing which sounds bad enough anyway

I’m interested to know whether you actually believe that.

It was on the news when the vaccine first came out and they said it didnt actually contain the virus but did some thing with dna or used some other method. Can't remember the exact terms they used. Was like a key or some thing and as such could be easily altered for new variants. Dna is probably the wrong term lol. Plenty of info out there now that explains it properly

Had my first jab on Monday at 8.20 am, thought I feel fine at lunchtime. Wife said you ok, yep had  a smile and thought it hadn't affected me.

Come afternoon no headache nothing really, around two or three pm took the dog out for a walk with wife to a local small supermarket. Got home was soaked with sweat. Couldn't get fully dry, head and back wouldn't stop being covered with a sheen of sweat. Neck started getting stiff across tops of shoulders and runny nose, took a fuzzy turn after standing up and turning. Took couple of paracetamol and was ok. Still had sweaty spells for a day or so after and neck stiffness went today.

Not as bad as some bit more than I expected to get. Also I don't normally react to injections but the ***** who done it made it sting as he put the bloody needle in, I thought he's caught a nerve,my arm got a right swelling lump and it felt like I'd ran into a sticking out bolt on a scaffold clip, any who have done this know what I'm on about.  Still can't sleep on my left side for long as it wakes me up.

Wife said I told you your arm will hurt a lot. They have to be right 😂

It sounds like fun. I was thinking if the vaccine does knock you for 6 then can you assume the real virus would also hit you extremely hard and vice versa. So technically if you do suffer then its a good thing you had it

Not sure that’s sound logic...more likely a strong reaction to the jab indicates a strong immune response therefore either you had a previous Covid exposure, generating antibodies whether you knew about it or not or you generally have a strong immune system capable of fighting Covid.

My lad had his jab yesterday afternoon( a strong , healthy , superfit , 26 year old) , and he's struggled to get out of bed today . He's in pain all over his body , and feels rough as hell . By the bad reaction , I'm guessing he's one of the ones that's already had covid , but didn't know.

I'll tell him that doctor Simon will be popping around with the ginger injection , and he'll get a lollipop afterwards 😅.

My lad hasn't got much of a sense of humour.  He'd just give me that victorian scowl if I explained the ginger 😅.

For those that do have the AZ (as I did on 28 March) I hope you don't have the "slightly more severe" reaction to it on each of the three days subsequent that I have "enjoyed". In fact such that having 'phoned my GP this afternoon 31 March he told me to call 999 immediately as he in fact suspected an oncoming heart attack. So three days of night sweats such that the sheets were soaked (I checked and, no I hand't wet the bed), lobster red arms and heart palpitations.

"I'll drive there says I."

"No you won't," Says he. "You'll take an ambulance."

So after some hours in the local Emergency Coronary Care Unit and the usual ECG and blood tests and etc., (more pricks put in in me in those hours that a Shepherd Market prostitute) I get all clear. The parting words from the Coronary Care Assessor "Don't worry it wasn't a heart attack just a "slightly more severe" reaction to the AZ vaccine and that I was not the first we've seen today the same and his own reaction was also the same.

And I had a positive covid-19 test result on 6 February so already been there seen it and done it. That lasted one day, no night sweats, no heart palpitations no lobster red arms and after that ten days of sat at home in the same one room being bored. With my wife and seven year old both on 7 February and on 17 February giving negative tests. I'm sixty-three I grew up seeing poor unfortunates with stump arms because the then UK Government told their mothers thalidomide was safe.

Boris Johnson? I wouldn't believe him if he told me the sun came out in the day and the moon came out a night. He is a as guilty of pro-AZ "spaff" as he accuses Europe...and who next now...Canada (what has Trudeau come out in solidarity now with Macron because of the EU-Canada Trade Deal) is of what he calls their supposed anti-AZ rhetoric.

And to close? I asked the Coronary Care Assessor what if I had the same "slightly severe reaction" to my scheduled second dose. He said "Play it by ear and if need be I see you back here in twelve weeks time." And no they had had no similar "slightly more severe" reactions from those who took the Pfizer vaccine because I asked the question.

If you have had either vaccine you can, directly as a patient not via your GP, can click on the link to submit direct to the UK Medical and Healthcare Regulatory Authority a "Yellow Card Report" of any symptoms...mild or severe...for one day or for longer...and as many reactions as you had associated with either vaccine. I had sweats and slight palpitations but nothing as bad as you.  Both wife and I think we had covid before they announced a thing about on news.

Mel tell your lad that the ginger is administered as a suppository, he will soon be up and about.

There is undoubtedly anti AZ rhetoric in the EU for political reasons, I personally would not believe a word came out of Boris Johnston's mouth but i do have some faith in the advice and guidance from the European and UK health agencies regarding the safety of AZ vaccine. The EUs playing politics with the AZ vaccine has and will cause the death of thousands of their citizens. Few medications come without risks and some have severe risks, its about looking at the risks and benefits.
