I have a good friend who's a Lib Dem councillor. they suspect the only way this 'blue wall' is going to come down is with Lib Dem voters repeatedly banging their heads against it at the vacuousness of their own party!

Their party conference is going on at the minute. An inordinate amount of time has been geared towards changing the order of sentences in the constitution. Not changing the actual words, just the order they come in. It's such cutting edge debate that's kept the Lib Dems so relevant these past few years 🙄

They would have more luck if they resurrected Gladstone

They would have more luck if they had some policies instead of cranky ideas. They know they are never going to be called upon to actually do anything so they can say what they like.

they are the nothing going on here party

Never forget the lying liberals "Nick I won't increase tuition fees for students Clegg "

First thing he did was to increase them from £3000 to £9000 per year.

Yep. Sadly most peeps have short memories.

Not so far off now at 72 MP's to the Tories 121. Interesting to see these old threads rise from the dead.

Student fees have currently been held since 2017 and are unsustainable for some Universities.

Clegg was a slimey little $#!+ and took the usually gullible libs in bigtime, now he's slithered his way to be president of global affairs with meta,

A horrible public school **** whos deal with cameron did far worse than making tarquin and jemimah's parents pay extra uni fees,

Without his upper class self serving input austerity would not have happened and the broken  Britain that he and his tory bedfellows created wouldnt have every public service on its knees,

The blokes a self-entitled two faced ####

No, he’s still an utter space cadet.  But whoever was advising the Lib Dems which seats to target at the election definitely deserves his Christmas bonus.

Mind you, the Lib Dem's enthusiasm for proportional representation seems to have waned somewhat.  Funny that.

Am with you on the horrendous damage Clegg did, but for different reasons.  Frankly he doesn’t get anywhere near the criticism he deserves for having, amongst other things, done more to damage the trust in British politicians in living memory than anyone else.

It’s not just his tuition fee about-face, but people often forget just what he sold his soul for, namely a referendum on AV.

Then, when he was finally booted from office, he spent his every waking moment doing…what?  Oh yes, undermining the UK government’s Brexit negotiations by holding, quite openly, talks with the EU team. The irony clearly being lost on him, that in most other EU member states, that would have earned him prison time.

Occasionally, he crawls out from whatever rock he’s under to defend Meta’s latest indiscretion/cover up.  Frankly, the position of corporate lightening rod suits him.
