Phillip Schofield - BBC Interview

Gordon Bennett, what a palava, he got it wrong on so many levels and now he is trying to paint himself as the victim of social media.

The BBC interview really let him get it off his chest and then he starts to blame people and virtually threaten suicide.

What an absolute shower of a human being!

It was all over the internet the other day, name, photos etc.

I just hope everyone (both those involved and those viewing the storm from afar) get the message that deceit and lying can have big life changing consequences.  I'm reminded of the quote from Sir Walter Scott's work - “Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive".

Do you think so ?, did he use his influence over this young man ? I suppose at 15 he would have known these TV stars could be an idol if that's the word, I am sure many  other TV stars have done similar male and female

Absolutely, my youngest son's friend is a minor celebrity (sports) but when they are out the girls are throwing themselves at him. Can you imagine what the big stars get all the time? I imagine all the old rock stars have guilty secrets they hope don't come back to haunt them

For many years I said to the Mrs that Philipe was a wrongun.  I  never liked him, BUT that aside he is in a terrible situation  now.  It is very difficult for US to know what the real truth is... what is truth.  I  don't think that there was a underage grooming session because the young bloke was 20 when he came to work for the bbc. Any contact before that was him asking  Schofield advice on how to get into television via twitter.  It is a silly situation where if it had been a  young woman.... wrong that it would have been towards his wife, most people would be of the opinion of ,,,,, Get in there my son and fill yer boots. ,,,, that's my boy.!! WHAT I DO FIND A BIT UNTASTEFULL is the fact that all of his so called  friends and  work mates have all turned on him to save there own misserable skins using the feble excuse of HE LIED TO ME.  WAS THERE ANY REQUIREMENT FOR HIM TO TELL ANYONE ABOUT HIS PERSONAL, PRIVATE LIFE.?  Does anyone on here tell their friends, workmates, family about their private sex life.?  After all what they were doing wasn't illegal.  And before the public inquisition takes place where is there any evidence to the contrary.  I still don't. Iike the  bloke though.  Todays headlines = tomorrow's chip wrapping paper. It could be that some of these so called friends and work mates are up to the axles and are trying to distance themselves from being looked at.  Would you want any of them standing in the ranks next to you in a war.?

There are three answers if asked.  Two are 'right' and one is badly wrong;

  1. Tell the truth - RIGHT
  2. Tell them it's none of their business - also RIGHT
  3. Tell lies - WRONG

He chose to do the wrong thing by lying (and some accounts say also encouraged the other party to lie as well).

It seems to me that he probably did nothing illegal (assuming his account can be believed this time).  But he did plenty 'wrong' in lying to his employer, colleagues and friends and they may well not accept anything from his now as 'truthful' given his past record.  The problem is that there needs to be an element of trust with both colleagues and employers which being a proven liar rather removes - and conducting your life in a way that many will "not be comfortable with" will cause troubles - especially for public figures in the media spotlight.

I’m not too sure what all the fuss is about really.
He deceived his wife and lied to people regarding an affair, which happens on a daily basis all over the world.
The only question is, was the person he was having an affair with underage? He says not. Time will no doubt tell.

Seriously?
Not many people would go into bat for millionaire TV stars ferrying young easily-influenced men around in company taxis to and from their flats.  Takes all sorts I guess.

The point is: Legal, consensual or not, there are clear rules around senior people in an organisation – and yes that includes the ‘talent’ – having affairs with junior ranks.  Most organisations view this as a serious disciplinary issue.  For this reason alone he should’ve been sacked as soon as senior management got confirmation it was the case.

It now appears it that not only were ITV management aware, it was yet another ‘open secret’ that journalists were unable to publish due to legal concerns.

Fortunately ITV doesn’t receive taxpayer funding so they are quite free to destroy themselves.  Broadcast TV is all but dead to the younger generations anyway.

The affair isn't the issue, it's the culture at the top of one the UK's established broadcasters letting talent do what they like and screw everyone else.  So to speak.

I'm all for tolerating others points of view, but if your going to be insulting you could at least have the decency to be funny about it....

The affair was the issue in the BBC interview I watched; how they met, when it first started and how old was the boy at that time, how old was he when they first had sex, did he groom him. Only one reference to his employers and as whether they were aware of it, which Schofield said not to his knowledge.
I’ve no doubt ITV, if aware, were also very aware of not wanting to lose their golden boy and the ratings he and his co-host commanded, very similar to the BBC and their ‘look the other way’ attitude towards Saville, although in Schofields case there is so far no case of anything illegal.

Plenty of accusations mind you, but that’s par for the course. Like I said, time will tell.

having sex with young boys be no surprise when the bbc hire him!

Are you accusing him of having sex with young boys? Do you know this for a fact or are you just spouting off?
You are on a social media platform open to the public;  are you sure you want to make that statement?
