Penelope Posted Friday at 22:19 Report Share Posted Friday at 22:19 A car has driven through barriers and into a Christmas market killing 11 and injurying north of 80, so far. This will be far reaching for Germany.

Scully Posted yesterday at 08:30 Report Share Posted yesterday at 08:30 At least two dead and 68 injured according to BBC news. No mention of a bomb unless I’ve missed it. Awful. Yet more families grieving at Christmas.

The German Police are presuming he was working alone. A Saudi Arabian Doctor with full residency status (2016) who had been in the country since 2006. What used to called a "sleeper" in my day. Absolutely shocking, thankfully the death rate was not far higher.
JKD Posted yesterday at 08:36 Report Share Posted yesterday at 08:36 Another awful event from a 'hidden' attacker. All Xmas markets there are protected with concrete barriers, after the previous attack the other year when 12 died. Unfortunately, there was a car-width gap in these barriers where he got through. Shocking but unstoppable, but also preventable re barrier placement ?

If that's the case that is plain negligence, I mean why on earth would you leave a cars width when the barriers are there to stop vehicles. I'm not saying anyone should be singled out and blamed for this. Probably just an oversight or the gap left for a particular reason. Regretful for sure, but no witch hunt. Mungler Posted yesterday at 08:42 Report Share Posted yesterday at 08:42 I got this in group text: ‘be honest though, it doesn't seem like Christmas without a bunch of people being flattened in a German market by someone of a particular religious persuasion’ it struck a chord because a couple of people from work went to the Bruge Xmas market 2 weeks ago and I did actually think ‘I hope they’ll be alright and don’t get mown down by the next loon in a truck.. ‘. And it’s now where we sort of expect it and just hold our breath for the next one.

Whatever, more unnecessary deaths 🤨
