Penelope
Has anyone watched the 5 part series on Sky Atlantic? What did you think?
B725
I watched the first program and didn't rate it much but friends have seen it all and say its gets better so I've downloaded it. Will watch it later.
elgreco
My Son has booked fights to Kiev and has a tour of Chernobyl arranged whilst he is there at the end of the month. He wasn’t born when it happened and finds it fascinating.
Benthejockey
Watched 4 out of the 5. Cream crackered last night so missed the last one. Quiet a good watch I've enjoyed it.
Zetter
Really good series after watching it (just got the last episode to do tonight) without doing spoilers I had to fast forward through the dog bits as I am a big softies when it comes to dogs so it was a bit hard to take . The disregard for human life in the name of covering up the full extent of what had happened even in the early years of Glasnost was real eye opener. Reminiscent of throwing waves of young men into the teeth of machine guns and panzers during the second world war "the motherlands thanks you for your service"

chrisjpainter
We've just watched the first episode and was pleasantly surprised. It's not a slow-motion, explosion-ridden Michael Baylike movie drama, which was what I was fearing it'd be. Instead it's more personal, more unsettling. We're definitely going to continue
Zapp
I'm not all the way through yet but it's excellent. The attention to detail is astonishing
Farmboy91
My missus recorded the first one but I only made I through the first half hour or so, PW came to the rescue. Maybe ill give it another try.
markm
Thought it was fantastic (still have this weeks to watch). It must have been hell for the 1000’s effected by this. I found the hospital scenes outstanding, the make up was brilliant (but devastatingly sad).

Flashman
Best thing I've ever seen. Wife and I said over and over, "I don't believe it", "Did they really do that", "that's incredible", etc. Amazing TV

SpringDon
It’s horrifying. I’ve no reason to believe the sacrifice has been exaggerated and it’s seems incredibly callous. But what else could they do?
Ricko
Is there another channel it's on? I'm not sure that the mysterious box by the telly can receive it... Edited June 5, 2019 by Ricko
kennett
I watched the last one last night, brilliantly done. You don't really think of things that huge on such a personal scale, until you hear true stories like the fireman and his wife. As said though, the scale of the denial and cover up from the Soviets was staggering.
manthing
Watched and enjoyed. Its exactly as I'd imagined the old soviet block interacting with the outside world and its own. Quick question. The 3 legs of power were Party, KGB and Military. The Party and KGB had representatives on all the Military installations and assets but did the military have peeps in the party and KGB offices? USSR refusing to put it at anything other than the initial deaths plus emergency crew of 37. Excellent series from start to finish.

Muddy Funker
I thought it was one of the best things I've seen on tv in ages/ever. Helps that I've got an interest in what happened anyway.
figgy
Watching number 4 as I type this. Good watch and remember it happening and the aftermath of sick dying children on Noel Edmonds Christmas. Was heartbreaking to see them.
Raja Clavata
Watching number 2 now as trying to catch up with my son whose on number 4. The only thing I don’t understand so far is why they didn’t show the events leading up to the core explosion.
getthegat
We're watching it on catch up, just seen episode 2. Very Russian, I'm sure it's accurate. Numbers they give are frightening, if just one plant can do that..... Looking forward to the other episodes.
chrisjpainter
I read a Russia Today report on it, where they interview the General who's in it. They criticise it for being MASSIVELY inaccurate and how it's appalling how they could get away with such absurdness. They then go on to criticise really minor things and use that as their justification. I won't go into all of them so I don't spoil too much but one AWFUL misrepresentation was, when the chaps come out to open the draining valves, they drank vodka after coming out, but they didn't drink vodka. Scandal. Weirdly, as I read it, I felt that the General who was being interviewed wasn't altogether playing ball with the leading questions. His answers agreed with the inconsistencies, but he talked about the big picture too, much of which did tie in with the Drama. Apparently there's going to be a Russian version of Chernobyl, in which it all gets blamed on a CIA saboteur. Some things never change
Zapp
I finally got round to watching the final episode. Easily the best thing I've seen on the tv for as long as I can remember.
