In theory yes, but then old folk will complain their being told to stay in and don't want to, and often the nice beaches are where everyone heads on sunny days. No real difference between shooting or fishing,  but then why not go golfing or horse riding or out in your boat, and then others will say if they can do that then I'm going to ..........

So unfortunately everything has to stop, that way everyone is doing there bit.

I just feel like everyone should weigh their own risk and decide what they want to do.

That's as ridiculous as saying if one person has to go broke then everyone should.

I'll have to differ, each of those exercise/fresh air/vitamin C gathering activities can be done in solitude but it easier to police a total ban on common sense.

And you've just made my point, I'm in my 40s fit ish, no underlying health issues but I'm sticking to the rules, I don't want it but don't expect I'd get that ill if I did.

I also wouldn't want to spread it to others that could be vulnerable,  like say a pregnant woman or someone in there late 60s with health issues.

Those that are in the vulnerable groups should be grateful that people are in the main sticking to the rules, and encouraging them, you seem to think you should be able to do as you please because you'll be out the way, and you should be right, but what if while driving to a field or beach someone smashes into your car,  and you end up in hospital!! Then the risk jumps up and all because of unnecessary travel.

The problem is many would just carry on as if nothing was happening,  so everyone is being told stay home stay safe.

True but only as long as it doesn’t impact on others!

This ^^^^^ The trouble is we got experts telling us what we need to be doing, but then we get joe  walking straight across the lawn. The joes are not going to be compliant until they post keep off the grass signs then they will no. The please note Guidance does not apply to them because they are special and so like playing on the nice lawn.

Well said if you decide I am going shooting & you loose your ticket or go fishing end up with a fine don’t moan as you know the score.

It would be absolutely ridiculous if someone lost their sgc over this. I would imagine that no one that has been caught driving where they shouldn't, has subsequently had their driving license revoked

Where guns are concerned, you dont actually have to have done very much at all if anything at all to be in big trouble loose licences the lot. A lad i knew bough a house in Lincolnshire, he just saw it looked ok was what he wanted he was from Lincoln originally it was not too far away quite rural . so he did the deal. He moved next he has his licence under review. I remember it being called that. The former owners SON had been growing dope on that property wile his mom and dad were living in Spain . Police were scared he was going to come back break in or had spare keys/ knew the place and how to break into it. He was nearly 12 months before they finally gave him his licence / guns back back.  this drug grower was a violent lad by all accounts only late teens but history. I know of others with neighbour trouble, another with a drunk and incapable one night walking 30 yards to a waiting car after a weeding reception. Guns / licence under review. You can not give the law a MM in this day and age .  strange thing is some seem to duck under every radar get away with all sorts of dodgy stuff. Me I Eire on the side of caution, preventing a problem, ie not sticking your head above the parapet. is way better that picking your head/ gun licence up in a bucket when they take your head off. If you get me. just saying ridiculous yes but todays  Law enforcement and re Gun licensing.

A not dissimilar thing happened to me on Friday.

We had been out shopping and unusually had the dogs in the car. On the way back home I pulled into a lane end which had a well used footpath running from it. A small car was already parked there in which there were two spotty youths. Or so I thought. As I passed the car I noticed two things. One was a very recently dead Chaffinch and the other was a third pimply youth lying out on the back seat.

Always being one for a jape I picked up the dead bird, opened the passenger side door and placed the corpse on the lap of the passenger. I have rarely seen a reaction like it. All three were repulsed and I was knocked sideways by the smell emanating from the vehicle which proceeded to shoot off at great speed.

It was in this weeks Shooting times two folk lost there licence but they didnt have permission to shoot on the land they where caught on as well

Thats from a few weeks ago up north durham i think.

Its funny but i had a go at the son other day came in off the main road like a bat out of hell i heard him coming 600 yards away, warned him if he got done for unsafe manoeuvre turning in at that speed he could lose his guns. You just do not know these days what they are going to do. if the cap fits you will be wearing it you can be sure of that.

Exactly. Logic dictates that if shooters are at risk of losing their licenses, then drivers must be too.

Think through what you wrote, if you get done for drink driving or other serious motoring offences they also take your guns away.

Because the authorities don't really want any of the public to have guns, thus any chance they get...

So I go check my livestock twice a day, which is against the guidelines of doing it once a day during my exercise.

What you're saying is that if I get stopped on my second journey of the day, the police are going to fine me, and then come and take my guns away?

I really do think some people on this forum ought to put the crack pipe down and come back to reality

No, that's not what I said at all. Kinda ironic statement about the crack pipe to be honest...

Turns out the boss phoned the police and they stopped the car the driver failed the roadside drug test  so they took him to the station and took a blood sample to be sent to a lab and seized the car , they came for statements today and to burn off a dvd off the  CCTV

The police officer that took my statement said there was a rise of 10% more cars on the road this week and a 37% increase in thefts

I asked are you doing the lad for being out driving unnecessary and he reckoned his force have only issued one £60 fine they say go home and if you refuse its them your fined

All of this chatter and I have just been reminded that 80,000 died in the UK during the 1968 flu outbreak.  I don't recollect any lockdowns or any change in lifestyle back then.

Just common sense is the order of the day , but as a barrister friend commented, he was in a case one time when the defence suggested common sense was used.  The judge looked over his specs and said,  " I agree, but it isn't very common these days is it."     If you can find it, use it and stay safe chaps.

Just to change things a tad :-

I live backing onto a large cemetery, have done for around 20 years. During that time we have gotten used to a certain level of activity re funerals. Since the outbreak of this virus we have seen a significant increase in the number of funerals. Not double but maybe around 60/70 % increase.

Its really very sad seeing the funerals take place with only 5 mourners present at the grave (as per the corona rules) any others have to stand well away. That does not include those using the crem' which is partially screened (we can't see the entrances). If the lock down dissenters could see these daily scenes of sadness perhaps they would be more willingly compliant.

Just saying
