samboy
Hi gang. Just been watching this and the chaps in New York sitting on girders having their lunch about 800 feet up. Within seconds my hands are clammy but i cant stop watching it all. They must have nerves of steel.

It was all set up by Rockefeller Center to promote the building and there are some other photos from the same day of them pretending to sleep and play (American) football on it. Spin was alive and well in the 1930's! They are all genuine workers from the construction of the building though.

marsh man
Some of the old Fred Dibnah videos take some beating , he had nerves of steel when climbing the chimneys and the church spires . a few old ropes and a couple of deals and off he went , no fuss or nothing , just got on with it in his own way . Yup. Them guys are crazy. Some nasty accidents are on youtube where they get pinged off by the shaking and are thrown about mid air chainsaw whirling around with them! Yes an amazing man , climbing a ladder , and carrying another ladder for the next bit of the climb . My mate to me to his place to meet him ,just a few months before he died . He had a guest book you put your name in and add a comment . So I wrote " hey Fred , your better looking in real life " made him smile . I followed him on the TV for many years . So missed . samboy
Also just been watching free solo climbing up rock faces with no safety ropes. Sheer lunacy. It showed you a few who have been killed. Base jumping is another one. Still each to their own.

My first job from school was a YTS scheme at the BICC working in their TV studio. Fred was knocking down a chimney on the site and we filmed it and interviewed him - this would have been around 1983 in Prescot
