bruno22rf Posted Thursday at 19:13 Report Share Posted Thursday at 19:13 Lived next to our neighbours for nearly 25 years but there's always been a bit of a "miff" on my side. Their son (early 40's and still at home) is an enthusiastic smoker of the "Happy" weed and the aroma is horrendous - we find it awkward to sit out on the patio in the summer or even open our back door in the winter without the thick smell entering our house. Is there anything, realistically, that I can do? We get on well with them so direct confrontation would be difficult, they live in a housing association property so maybe I could mention it to them but I really am unsure. Do you like smoking kippers ? Either way you go at this is unlikely to end well. Only way I can see is if you ask them to get him to smoke it indoors……… Good luck

BobbyH Posted Thursday at 19:21 Report Share Posted Thursday at 19:21 I would as a nice neighbour just ask and air your concerns, at the end of the day...you cant enjoy your garden properly, and if it swamps the house, then i wouldnt be happy. If it was me, I would worry that on a random CDT that i would show positive and lose my career. But i have a zero tolerance to drug users if im honest. Scully Posted Thursday at 19:31 Report Share Posted Thursday at 19:31 Ditto. If it’s not the stench of his weed it’s the stench of air fresheners to disguise the stench of the weed, as he's in a rental and not supposed to be smoking in there. He even removed the battery from the smoke alarm, and I’ve lost count of the chances his landlady has given him. He’s a nice enough lad but he needs to grow up. His Dad kicked him out, his Mother Mothers him, he has a kid ( living with its Mother ) and has a good job. What really annoys me is the fact he’s knocked down the wall backing his works van into the yard twice, and nudged it a third time. I can only assume he’s stoned as you can smell the stuff when he drives ( or walks his dog ) past. If it spoils your enjoyment of being able to chill on your own property I’d just have a word with the rozzers; I think it’s coming to that point here. Dougy Posted Thursday at 19:44 Report Share Posted Thursday at 19:44 Funny i have only just mentioned the whiff of rotten cabbage to my neighbour emanating from 2 doors away. There on very thin ice just now, specially as on the way back from the afternoon dog walk there was a car stinking of a rotten cabbage patch with a couple of dark characters in highly likely moving some gear about. If i see them again i will be making a call.

London Best Posted Thursday at 21:51 Report Share Posted Thursday at 21:51 Be careful! A friend of mine had weed man next door. He reported it to the police and they required him to lodge his guns elsewhere (ask me how I know) in case the neighbour objected to the police visit and there was any confrontation. I doubt they'd even bother, not when people openly smoke it in public these days. We were in a rental of the builders for a few months and I had to point out that it wasn't us smoking weed, it was seeping through the walls from next door, very unpleasant. Be very careful if you decide to report or confront. One of the pertinent questions asked during Grant or renewals of firearms is 'Have you ever had any neighbourhood disputes ?' BobbyH
Call your local police force from a pay phone and keep it anonymous as TC said. Are there any pay phones anymore??

Rewulf
Whichever way its done, it may become apparent that to 'know' the man is smoking weed in the house, kind of puts you in the vicinity ? And, is it even illegal to smoke weed in your own home, TBH Im not sure of the law on the matter, but would the police be even interested ? No, there'd not be interested in anyway, shape or form, about someone puffin' on a joint. Growing or serving, possibly, but even then? Wymondley
24 minutes ago, Rewulf said: but would the police be even interested ? I'd have assumed not, however I* recently had a visit from the local policeman because they'd had reports of weed smoke in the vicinity, and "had I noticed anything"? We're not really the area you'd expect drug use so I suggested kids in the woods, although I suspect I know who the culprit was and they've since moved house. I'm not sure they'd show the same concern in the middle of town or on a housing estate though. *When I say I, they'd visited a number of houses, I doubt I was the target. This boils my pee.. just because we own firearms does not mean we would do ANYTHING wrong with them. Guilty before even saying a word... It's a joke really
