My appologies for the question not being of a serious nature !

I shall return to reading rather than interacting with the Forum, as a newcomer to the sport i obviously haven't learnt the differance between a serious and stupid question.

Just take everything with a pinch of salt.....

Join in as you see fit.....we have allsorts on here and if everyone took everything seriously then it would be a very quiet forum.....

I personally just use a gun slip as my neighbours know I shoot,

I don't live in a "posh" street and touch wood for the last 14 years have had no bother,

I agree with the last in first out method though, I may load the car up with the rest o the gear but the gun goes in when I do, and when I'm home it goes in the cabinet unless it's wet/damp then it gets cleaned first, but in that scenario it generally gets cleaned at the club,

I had carried it into Premier Inns/Travelodges/Pubs/Hotels without any bother at all,

im careful to a common sense level , most of the folks that pass my house know that i shoot anyway.

i did feel a little embarrassed a while back , i was just dragging a fallow deer from the truck to the back yard on a tarp , as my vegan friend / neighbour appeared , she said "what you got there mel ?" , shes a really lovely person and i felt a very deep shame as she froze on the spot and looked deep into the cold dead eye of that deer.

Take the head of before you go home Mel , saves that awkward eye to eye contact ...👍🏻

Well that's one place that won't be getting my pennies anymore,

It was the first PW Charity shoot that I stayed in a Travelodge,

Used mainly Premier Inns after that with a private hotel in the mix as well

Premier Inn don't bat an eyelid when you walk in with a gun ( in a slip)

Does say that you cannot stay there just that you shouldn't leav them in your room, unattended, or expect the hotel to secure them...

I do wonder who advised them about a "locked case" you can padlock a holdall but it's rather pointless......

Som eeeejit must have either asked them to look after a firearm or told them they were keeping one in their room, the worrying part was the note above was left in a members room?

PS don't forget to commando roll from the car with the gun all the way to reception and then to your room never stopping lest you be accosted by the local scroates......

It kinda gives it away when i am draging a Boar or big Fallow buck down the drive who gives a ... what other people think as long as you are not breaking the law

 very valid point. I had to make a dash up a nice street in Salisbury with a dead sika over my shoulder once (fortunately it was dark and nobody saw me).

Apparently a friend was in a group stood in reception at such a value chain type hostelry at the essex last year when the on duty manager decreed guns would not be permitted. The quests were on masse in reception with slips on shoulder.

  • 2 weeks later...

Many many moons ago, I live in a mid terrace house that had a shared drive and archway between the houses...

1am or thereabouts I'm trying to be quiet and carrying a roe buck on my back that I had acquired with the dog , when I hear a whispered voice ..." you'll get 18 months for that son"...

To say I nearly **** myself was an understatement...

My next door neighbour was having a sneaky cigarette away from his Mrs.

I skin the muntys on my front lawn :) I get some right looks . All my neighbours I shoot as I share the meat around

Lure them in with free meat and then shoot them!! then you dont have to worry about them seeing your guns!

That one made me smile too -

Never too concerned where we live so just a case of gun in slip and into car boot.
