Robden
Just my opinion but, I think that the planet is over populated (and everything that goes with that), has been for sometime and is now getting worse. Probably why "Mother Nature" is trying to correct things by reducing the population with clever deseases like Sars1 and Sars2 (covid) etc. Maybe the next pandemic will cause sterility. Worse to come I fear.

Yeah, just tax the hell out of everyone, that’ll do it! 🤷♂️ 12 hours ago, Dave-G said: I think you already know the answer but: they who know that commercial passenger aircraft are amongst the worst polluters and won't upset their vested interest apple carts - and package holidays are not essential. I'm guessing some wet will come back to enquire about which apple carts, but don't bother because I'm sure anyone with intelligence know what I mean even though it might be a bit clumsy. To be honest when you referred to ‘they’ I thought you meant the average punter going for a jolly abroad. I mean let’s face it, we’re only here once, if we can’t spend what time we have actually enjoying ourselves, then what’s the point?

Indeed, So many people want everyone else to feel as depressed, guilty and to blame as themselves. When I was in Australia there was a widely used phrase "Go for your life mate" which i adopted as fact..🙂 It sometimes seems that the only time people are happy at the moment is when they are unhappy........ or blaming others

The world seems full of people intent on telling others how they should lead their lives. Do this, don’t do that, even down to what they should and shouldn’t be eating! The confines of this forum prevents me telling them what they can do. We’re here for a very short time, and we’ll never be here again. Make the most of the time you have and leave others to do the same without interference, because nothing you do in your lifetime is going to make one iota of difference. Exactly , often those who have no life of there own , or no hobbies or interests in there life, wish to spoil it for others. Has to be a form of jealousy . Then it's those that have nothing , against those who have made something of there lives .

Dave-G
Hmm - I class that as business travel - how else can we expect world leaders to travel here and back home whilst being adequately protected from terrorists who would lurve to assassinate them - surely not on a slow boat? I'm not condoning massive motorcades though. Edited November 2, 2021 by Dave-G

Worse to come I fear. or global warming. what makes me smile with all these people jumping on the bandwagon with regards global warming is, our planet is around 4.5 billion years old but the scientists have modelled future weather patterns on the last 170 years, 170 years against 4.5 billion leaves some margin for error in their predictions, now where did I put Doctor Who’s phone number? JohnfromUK
38 minutes ago, ditchman said: can anyone confirm this please Sort of - From the Telegraph: Ursula Von der Leyen has been accused of contributing to a “climate disaster” after using private jets on more than half of her overseas missions, including short hops to London and Paris. The European Commission president even jetted to Glasgow for the Cop26 environment summit. An analysis by the Telegraph reveals the EU’s top official ordered “air taxis” for 18 out of her 34 official trips since taking up the role in December 2019, on a pledge to turn the bloc carbon-neutral by 2050. The shortest of the journeys was a 31-mile hop between Vienna and Bratislava, as part of Mrs von der Leyen’s tour of European capitals to sign off on their coronavirus recovery plans, according to a senior Commission official.
