Trump Has said he would support Putin to attack NATO countries if they had not paid their bills. What a complete moron. How anyone could ever see this spanner as an acceptable candidate for president is beyond me.

Anyone who ever saw Trump as the right side of normal. needs a recalibration of their value system.

The sooner Europe gets its own army together the safer we will all be.

An EU army could end up accepting Russia as a member.

Trump and Biden are both spanners, if they are the best the self proclaimed "Greatest Nation on Earth" has to offer then how messed up are the other 250 million Americans.

He's put it across a bit clumsy but just maybe that will get the non payer morons taking a free ride to cough up.

A bit ? Many (most) have put more to Ukraine than the US (by gdp per head). Ukraine war is challenging all of Europe to rethink.

The UK needs to be looking at doubling its spend starting with salaries. We look more isolated than most.

This made me smile. What is stopping the EU having one army - not the UK. If it is such a brilliant idea, why isn't it happening?

As for sneering at Biden and Trump - well, the UK has world class leaders - Truss, Sunak, Blair, Brown, Milliband, Corbyn, Johnson, Starmer, plus back up deputies like Rayner, Abbott et al.

Much as some sneer at Trump, the USA fared better under his leadership.

Are you happy to trust in the Lord the Senile or the insane for your freedom?

Europe has a choice to do exactly this or step up to the plate and get its act together.

As for the UK, it has little choice but to  trust in the trinity. 🤣

It's a perverse situation when the mod is bigger than the armed forces, I can't quite fathom how it takes more to organise the fighting than it does to actually fight the war. The way Russia and others are carrying on it seems more likely than ever that war is indeed coming in one form or another. It takes a long time to build ships, train men and women and adequately provide for them. Things we just aren't doing and haven't done for a very long time but really should have started some time ago.

what would his reaction be if we where to stop buying American arms.

what American arms do we buy to supply our armed forces except for the F35's (of which we have 48) that at this moment in time might as well be sopwith camels as far as the royal navy is concerned.

If it kicks of properly, all put war, the ‘geeks’ and people who likely have autism, sat in GCHQ and MOD facilities around the UK will be able to do more damage to Russia than a soldier with a rifle.

Cyber warfare switching off huge infrastructure, electricity, water,  internet, communications etc.

As for Trump, what he said (quite bluntly, which is his style)… how can Countries who have signed up to NATO’s agreement to spend a set amount, then choose quite willingly not to spend that money, leave themselves short defence wise, then come crying to NATO and the USA when they need defensive arms / infrastructure.

Those countries aren’t paying their insurance premiums but expect to cash in the policy if there’s a claim!

Why should citizens in the USA be funding European counties defence costs / insurance, when they are choosing not to invest in those services themselves?

Interesting comments Lloyd90, as usual not far off the mark.

I have more trust in the USA - sadly led by senile Joe - but would have far more trust in Trump than the EU.

PS - Lloyd90 - agreed.

old man - there are many others, but there seems a widespread attempt to ridicule Trump, whilst never looking nearer home or even Europe.

Also this, another chance to sling mud. They do seem to jump on any opportunity to try and criticise him.

There’ll be American citizens asking why they’re sending so much money to Europe when they’ve got their own issues on US soil that the money could be spent on.
