I Am Sad - Ollie put to sleep.

My beautiful shooting mate Ollie, a Sussex Spaniel has gone forever, she had a wonderful life and would have been 16 this June. She retired from the shooting field 2 years ago, but up until then was out with me every shooting day. Old age caught up with her and I had to do the right thing,

Tearful.

Butch

Sad times Butch, always a horrible decision to make even although you know it was the very best decision for your mate.

Although the sadness is overwhelming just now remember all the years of happy times and be grateful that you were lucky enough to have Ollie as your shooting buddy and smile for her.

Awful. My little Border is 12 this year and though as fit as a fiddle and keen as mustard, a full day on our rough shoot takes it out of her nowadays. Just today she spooked and gave chase to a Hare ( she has never caught one nor ever will, but is the eternal optimist ) and looked as pleased as punch on return, but I know she's getting on and it saddens me. I'm gonna be an absolute wreck when the day comes.

I feel for you.

Owing to age/fitness I am on my last dog (8 yrs old) and dreading her demise, the bond grows so strong it creates fear of loss:part of you dies with them.I am glad you gave her a good life and a mercifull end, nothing I can say will help but I feel for you.
