JohnfromUK
I had my first mow of the season today (and it did need doing). Looking back - I note that the date is moving: 2019 - first mowing was 18th March 2020 - 3rd March 2021 - (this year) - 27th February. Walker570
Had the nudge from she who must be obeyed but will not cut until next week at the earliest. Yes the grass is long enough to cut but if no one else had noticed we had a fairly sharp rost this mornign which grass hates and moss enoys. Cut too early and you will have a lawn full of moss. My diary says, third week in March for the last four years.

Jaymo
It’s ok for you lot- since you all encouraged me to buy the piece of land adjoining mine, it’s lost all its grass and we needed to grade to the same level. last week after the snow melted, it’s was like a bog. Scully
Nothing growing grass wise yet; it’s all still looking very flat after the snow has thawed, but it is looking very spring green in places, so I doubt we’ll have to wait too long now. Only seems five minutes since I put the mower away for the winter!

Benthejockey
Got the first cut of the year early last month just to take the top off and hoover up the leaves and then got on it again today just to take the top off it again and mulch any leaves left over. Didnt use the grass bag so it lightly mulched it which should give it some protection from the frost.

Not much beats a fire , but I hope you had a suitable stick to poke it with ?. Some time before Christmas, I sat at the kitchen table watching my ( bottom of the garden) neighbour cutting his lawn . You should have heard his mower as it hacked away at the frosty grass and hard ground 😅. Well done on buying the land 👍.
